Doctor Cullen walked away from me, parting a path from the sea of doctors that was in the room, and went to a desk. I turned my head away, scared to see what sort of thing he was about to take out and bring back. I heard his foot steps coming towards me, then they stopped as I felt his presence loom next to me.
"Here." He put something plastic in my hand. I looked down at what I was holding. It was a tube. A tube with some sort of red, thick substance in it. My stomach growled. I never realized how hungry I was until now. Why this looked appetizing to me, I have no idea.
I sat up quickly. "Do I drink this?" I asked, desperate to get something in my empty stomach.
He nodded, his shiny hair bobbing.
I toke off the top without hesitation, and gulped down whatever the red substance was. It was good. I felt it slowly crawl down my throat, leaving a shiver down my spine. It had an odd taste to it, though. Something I couldn't quite identify. I quickly forgot the oddity and was over taken by the sensation. I don't think I've ever had anything so good. So refreshing. What was this stuff? Whatever this mystery liquid was, I needed more of it.
"Can I get some more of this stuff?" I asked, examining the tube. It had 'Type B+' written neatly on a small piece of tape on the side of the plastic tube. I frowned. What was that supposed to mean?
"Not yet. Like it?" There was something in his voice when he said that that unsettled me. Something wasn't right here.
"What is this?" I frowned at him, hoping the answer would be written on his face. But it wasn't.
"I'll let you figure that out." He simply stated. He toke the tube from me, and put it in his pocket. "I'll just have to remember to give you the same type tomorrow." He sounded almost sinister now. What happened to his calm voice from before?
I looked around at the other doctors, seeing if any other them would speak up. None did. A few of them seemed to go as far as to avoid my gaze, as if I had just committed some sort of crime. Clearly I was missing something here.
"You should rest." Cullen got up and motioned everyone else to leave. I watched as they all filed out of the room in an orderly manner, leaving me alone.

That night, I stared up at the ceiling unable to sleep. My mind was to busy coming up with questions to worry about silly things like sleep. What's going on? Why do I keep waking up to find myself in hospital room after hospital room? I kept finding myself resorting back to the thought of 'they're experimenting on me and I'm no longer human', cliché. But that was impossible. For the thousandth time I told myself that's only in fiction. But what other answer was there? No one was giving me the actual facts. So that was the only thing I had going for me.
Then why was I brought here? Why wasn't anyone telling me? I didn't even know the time. That by itself bothered me. It could be midnight or two in the morning and I wouldn't know. The room was again windowless so I didn't have the sky to give any hints. Where were my friends? Didn't they know I was missing? And my phone. They must have taken it when I first came in here. I no longer felt it in my pocket. Someone would notice that I'm missing sooner or later, and come looking for me. Right? I may not be the most popular girl in the world, but my friends had to care. Then there was my uncle. He was probably out at some pub again, to drunk to notice my disappearance.
As the night went on, my mind continued to wander. Wander back to Doctor Cullen. Who was actually rather attractive now that I think about it. With his dark eyes that seemed to peer straight through your soul. But the change he went through when giving me that red substance was unmistakable. It was almost like he enjoyed watching me drinking it. So what in the world was it? I thought back to the odd flavoring of it. The thought of it almost made my mouth water. I was just so hungry. And it tasted so good.
But then it suddenly hit me. Like a ton of bricks, the answer to that simple question crashed on top of me. The reason it was so red and gooey. Why it had that weird flavor.
It was blood.
