When Luke got to school the next morning, he still felt guilty regarding the events that happened the night before, and how he couldn't see the starts with Michael last night. He walked the familiar corridors with an unfamiliar weight on his shoulders.

He walked past the point in the hall where Michael had stopped him yesterday, and noticed something different. The sign for the astronomy club was now missing. Luke looked around, hoping to see it on the ground somewhere, or hoping to find others still up, but he had no luck. There was now a lack of shining gold stars, and of colour on the drab walls of the school. The absence of the flyers made Luke uneasy. Did Michael have to stay at the school all night last night, by himself? Did he take all the posters down last night, after nobody showed up, or did he do it this morning, in a flurry of humiliation? Luke wanted to know the answers to both of the questions, but knew there was only one place to get them from, and that was Michael himself.

Luke started doing laps around the inside of the school, trying to find the purple haired boy with his galaxy backpack, but didn't spot him. He went to the science labs, on the third floor, where Michael liked to hang out, and he wasn't there, either. He was just about to give up and start driving around to try to find him when he heard a noise from behind him.

"Hey." It was Michael. Luke turned around, and was amazed at what he saw. The boy who always seemed so bright and cheery looked dull and down. His hair wasn't the vibrant purple it once was, but now was a faded shade of the colour that used to suit the boy's personality. His skin seemed paler than it usually was, and his eyes looked tired.

"Michael, I'm so sorry that I didn't come last night, I was planning on it, but my parents wouldn't let me." Luke explained, hoping to make the other boy feel better.

"Forget it, it wasn't like anyone was going to show up anyways. I stayed here until 1 o'clock this morning, waiting for people. I finally gave up. Nobody else here cares about space anyways." Michael said. "Nobody else here cares about me." Luke watched as Michael's face began to scrunch up as if he was about to cry again.

"Hey, no, Mikey, don't cry." Luke said. "People care about space, and people care about you, it's just that you haven't found those people yet. You'll find them, I promise." He pulled the boy into a tight embrace, hoping that it would help. Luke heard the muffled sobs subside, and felt Michael relax.

"Y-you think?" Michael asked, pulling away from Luke, sniffing his nose.

"I know." Luke smiled, looking Michael in the eye. "I promise. Now, where did all those posters go?" he looked at Michael's backpack, and could see some gold stars on paper sticking out of the top. "Let's go put these back up, shall we?"
