I woke to the sound of the first rain of fall splattering against my window. I grab my phone to check the time. 10:42am. Wierd. I feel as if there was something wrong, but I had no idea what. Shrugging the thoughts away, I change and begin packing for the long trip. Suddenly there in a knock on my door and I look over my shoulder to see Gavin walk up to me, a strange smile on his face. The second he wraps his arms around me and presses his lips to mine I suddenly remember what had happened last night. Unwilling to move, I treasure his embrace, not wanting it to end and having to face the pain of knowing that I had broken a promise to my best friend. All too soon he lets me go, looking deeply into my eyes. His expression changes from love to concern as my eyes fill with tears.

"What's wrong? Are you okay?" he asks, worry filling his words. I shake my head, buring my head in his chest as I burst into tears. He holds me close, gently stoking my hair as he whispered over and over that everything will be okay. Taking a deep breath, I manage to talk, my voice shaky. "I cant do this. Im sorry." I say, shakin my head as I step away from him and out of his arms. His expression is a mix of sadness and confusion, matching his tone perfectly as he asks "Why? What do you mean?" I just shake my head. Another part of the promise was not never tell anyone else about it. Holding back tears I grab my bag and run out of the room, him on my heels. Without even a goodbye I jump onto my old Harley and drive off, tears rolling down my cheeks in small streams.
