Chapter Ten: Thick Skinned: Part I

So, it started off as a good morning. Now I was here, tending customer that was just insulting everybody. I was voted to deal with her today. I sighed as I stood in front of her table, her words going over my head. I was not listening to her at all. Kendall walked into the cafe and I sent her a 'help' look. She motioned her head towards the customer, 'Just get rid of her' Kendall mouthed to me. Even she was getting tired of this rude customer. I nodded. "Hey! Are you even listening to me high school drop-out?" The rude customer shouted at me. I plastered a sickly sweet smile on my face.

"Oh you see, I did last week. But now I'm not. So if you aren't going to treat the valued employees here with the respect they deserve, I will be forced to escort you out of the cafe." I replied, with a fake sweet tone.

"How dare you talk to me like that! I demand to speak to your manager!" She demanded. We technically didn't have a manager for the cafe, Kendall just overlooked everything. So I just faked that I was the manager.

"You're speaking to her, honey. Cause you can't treat the valued employees in this cafe with respect, I will be forced to escort you out." I repeated myself and the customer gasped in shock from what I just said.

"Well, I don't want to leave!" She demanded like a 5 year old and crossed her arms over her chest. I shrugged and tucked my order book and pen into the pocket of my apron.

"Hey, I can't technically force you. Have a lovely day." I said and walked away like a boss. The rest of the team mouth's dropped in shock and I walked over to them. Kendall was smirking at my actions. "What?" I asked when I got over to the counter, walking around the register to pass a shocked Chase the new orders I had collected.

"Wha- What just happened?" Shelby asked, with her mouth open just like the rest of the team.

"Hey, she just got the respect she was giving others. She was treating everyone who works here like crap for the past few weeks." I replied.

"I knew I would like having her on the team." Kendall said and I grinned.

"Do we give burger to mean lady?" Koda asked and I shook my head.

"No, because she was mean to my friends." I replied and Koda smiled, liking my stance on this.

"Order up!" Chase said and passed me the tray of food after recovering from the minor shock.

"Thanks Chase." I said, grabbing the tray of food. "Come on Ty-Ty, help me manage the customers out here." I said, calling Tyler by our kiddy nicknames from when we were 5.

"Ty-Ty?" Everyone asked in unison. Tyler sighed dramatically and hung his head. I noticed Tyler's cheeks turn a faint red color. Oops, I embarrassed him.

"Yeah, coming Lex-Lex." Tyler mumbled, using my very similar nicknames. I smiled and we all handled lunch rush hour.

Shelby's POV
We all watched Tyler and Alexa walk away from us. "You know, they'd make a cute couple." I commented.

"Yes. Alexa and Tyler have r-r-romantic relationship." Koda stuttered out, struggling on romantic for a second.

"You've got that right, mate." Chase replied and continued to flip burgers. Riley made a noise of agreement. I went back to resister to cash customers out, thinking of how I can get Tylexa to become a thing.

Back to Alexa's POV
Shelby and I were told by Kendall that we needed to mop up the interactive dinosaur part of the museum while the boys handled the cafe. We had closed it off to visitors for now while we cleaned up. We were almost done mopping until Shelby spoke up. "Sooo..." She said, stretching out the last letter.
