Alexa's POV I walked to the main area of the base only to see Riley training with his dino saber with the practice dummy. Just the ranger I was looking for. "Hey Riley, could I borrow your phone?" I asked him, while I approached him. "I can't find my phone and I know it's somewhere down here and I just want to call it." Lies, I knew where my phone was I just needed Riley's phone to call his family so I could complete the last part of Riley's birthday surprise today. I had to make sure that I didn't get caught so I came up with a good cover story. Riley stopped training for a minute.
"Yeah sure." He told me and pulled his phone out from my pocket and passed it to me after unlocking it for me. "Do you need any help?" He asked. I smiled to him.
"Nah, it's fine. You can continue to train, I'm just going to call my phone." I told him and he nodded. I walked swiftly to my room and shut the door behind me, where Tyler was waiting for me.
"Did you get it?" He asked. I nodded rapidly and plopped down next to him. I scrolled through Riley's contacts and found the 'Matt Griffin' contact of his brother. I grinned and hit the button to call him and put the phone on speaker. After a few rings, Matt picked up.
"Hey little bro! It's been awhile since you called, what's up?" Matt greeted before Tyler and I could get a word out.
"Uh, hi! I'm one of Riley's friends, Alexa and I have another one of our friends with me, Tyler, and we're planning a surprise party for Riley's 18th birthday." I explained quickly to Matt.
"Oh! I sorry about the quick greeting. I just get a bit excited when Riley actually calls me." He replied.
"Understandable. We've been busy here with our ra-" Tyler started but I smacked his chest with the back of my hand to cut him off. "Ow!" He mumbled. I glared at him a little and he recollected his words. "With our museum duties and all. We've been pretty busy lately." He corrected himself. I smiled at his cover up, giving him a soft peck on the cheek. He blushed lightly.
"We were wondering if you guys would make a personal video message wishing Riley. I'm sure he'd love to see a video message from you guys." I explained to Matt.
"Yeah. It should be no problem." Matt replied. I grinned.
"Great!" Tyler said. "We'll text you an email from another phone number so Riley doesn't get suspicious and you can send the video message there."
"Thanks again for calling. That boy is quite hard to surprise. Trust me." Matt warned. "We've tried throwing his surprise birthday parties but with his big brain he always figured it out and ruined the surprise for himself."
"Thank you Matt." I thanked him. "I'm sure Riley would appreciate it." I told him and hung up the call. I erased any trace of calling Matt from Riley's phone and grabbed my own phone and sent a text to Matt from my phone with Kendall's email. Tyler and I walked back out the training area and I passed Riley back his phone. "Thanks for letting me borrow your phone, Tyler ended up helping me find my phone." I lied and gave Riley a smile, as the red ranger and I headed out. Tyler and I held hands and intertwined our fingers together as we walked to the cafe. We're all going to meet up at the cafe so we could discuss Riley's birthday surprise without him. We wanted to finish the plans without any problems. Tyler and I walked into the kitchen and ended up dropping each other's hands to put on the aprons so we could get to work once we were done discussing Riley's birthday party plans.
