*Fionna's POV*
After a while, Gumball left. When he was out of sight from the window, Marshall turned to me.
"So... you're going up the mountain. When are you going to be back?" He asked.
I shrugged. "A couple of days, at most."
"Mm... you know, I actually want to make this work, because no one else will ever... yeah. So, can I come too?" He asked.
"We just met, and you tried to steal my house."
"So? You tried to kill me. You owe me, and I want to meet your sister. She's going to have to meet me sometime, unless you'd rather live in wedlock?" He raised an eyebrow, and I frowned.
"What does that mean?"
"It means we're acting married. But we're not."
"...why is that a big deal?" I asked. "And it's not like we'll be doing tier 15 anytime soon."
"Tier... what now?"
I flushed. "I don't know exactly what it is, but... why do you have that look on your face?"
His eyes had initially dawned with recognition, but now he was leaning towards me, smirking. "I can teach you, if you want."
I blinked rapidly. "What's the catch?"
"Oh, no catch."
"So what is it?"
"You... I mean, I can show you."
I chewed on the inside of my cheek, considering it. "No, we haven't even kissed. I'll just ask Gumball to tell me. Oh, or Bryce! Yeah, Bryce doesn't keep things from me."
"I am kind of sick about hearing about perfect Bryce." Marshall muttered. "And, if you want to kiss... we can totally kiss."
"Are you drunk? We were trying to kill each other earlier."
"Yes... but I am willing to move past that. We're stuck together forever, unless you want to go off and marry someone else. I don't know why you would do that..." He trailed off, looking at me.
"You're my soulmate for a reason." I muttered.
He blinked rapidly at me. "So... it's decided. We stick together. So tomorrow I get to go with you."
"Wait, what? I never agreed to that! Besides, don't you want to stay here for a few days before moving on?"
"Without you?" He blinked in surprise. "No. Change of plans. Besides, this is one of the safest areas I've ever created. What possible reason would I have to not want to stay with you?"
"I... tried to kill you? I don't trust you?"
He scoffed. "Yes, because I am clearly the most trusted person in the world." He did seem a bit hurt by what I said though.
"Alright, so if you're not evil, then why are you attacking people?"
"Come on, my music's not that bad."
"What...? No, the attacks on poor farmers, the scared people...! You've... you've eaten children's souls!"
He blinked in surprise. "I have? Interesting. I bet they didn't taste that good, my cooking's nowhere near as nice as Gumwad's."
"This is serious!"
"And it's all a lie! They attack me, okay? Every single time!"
"Because you're dangerous!"
"Because I'm different from them!" He shot back. "Anyone who ever said I attacked them without provocation is an outright liar!"
I wasn't really sure how to respond to that.
"So... you've never hurt anyone?"
"I am not the one in the relationship who swings swords around." He scoffed. "Why do you do that, anyway? The Blue Knight is a myth. A nice myth, but still a myth."
I blinked in surprise. "I'm not a myth."
"Really? There's really someone out there who goes around defending the poor and downtrod, fighting monsters, and junk like that? And not only that, but this person is my soulmate?"
I nodded. "It's the right thing to do, so I do it. Plus it's fun. I'm not going to just sit around and wait for some prince to come walking by! What I'm really hoping for is a dragon. But you and I can practice together, okay?" I didn't necessarily trust him yet, but if he and I were going to spar and he was going to help me, plus if he wasn't awful, then I guess it would be fine.
"...why do you want to fight a dragon?"
"Because it's an adventure!"
He was silent for a minute, just standing there staring at me. I shifted from one foot to another. Then he burst out laughing. "Oh, I like you. You're not just going to pull me into a heady haze of... tier 15, you're actually going to pull me out into the world and try to make me see it from your point of view. And you're not just going to let me wallow in sadness, will you?"
"Ha, no." I grinned. "Why do that when we can have algebraic adventures?"
"Or mess with people with awesome pranks." He laughed. "Unless, of course, you're a stick in the mud."
"I'm not!" I replied.
He smirked. "Oh, so you're not just a good little girl, hmm? Well, we're just going to have to see how far that goes."
"Is this linking back to tier fifteen?" I asked suspiciously.
He shrugged. "I mean, it could. Not yet, obviously, but..."
He suddenly leaned in. I backed up a little before bumping into the wall, and he snickered. "I should be the one scared of you, not the other way around."
"I'm not scared, you're just in my space."
"Oh? Hmm, not likely to be remedied soon."
Before I realized what he was doing, he was kissing me. It was actually... pretty nice. His lips were softer than I thought that they would be.
When we finally broke apart for air, he grinned. "That was fun. You want to do it again later?"
"Yeah, but you're not sleeping in my bed."
"Oh yes I am."
"No, you get the couch."
"Limited cuddling, and bed."
"Limited cuddling, and my sister's old bed."
"No cuddling, and your bed." He bargained.
I squirmed a little, before nodding. "Don't do anything creepy while I'm sleeping."
He rolled his eyes. "I'm not that bad. Come on, I'll make dinner because I'm a gentleman."
