*Fionna's POV*
We made our way up to the summit, joking lightly and holding hands. He would sometimes stop us for a light kiss here or there, but we made it on time. Despite being a day late, anyway.
Finally we made it to the summit. Mochro had a somewhat big house, big enough for all their kids. It was a nice place. You could see for miles around, and there was a little lake nearby. The entire top had been flattened, either by rain or something, so there was about an acre or two of land (counting the lake) for them.
Marshall let out a low whistle. "Nice place."
I grinned. "Yeah. Cake helped Mochro design it back when she was pregnant with their kids."
"Hmm... I'm not sure if our little hole in the forest is big enough for kids." He grinned at me. "Maybe we're going to have to find a new one."
I laughed. "It's fine. We're not having kids yet."He hugged me from behind and nuzzled the top of my head. "Well, we should think ahead."
"That's not for a while, Marshall." I chuckled.
He kissed my hair. "You never know. Maybe we'll find a kid in the forest and decide to raise it."
"Yeah, that's actually what happened to--""Fionna!" My sister and her children tumbled out of the house, pulling me into a long hug. Lord Mochro followed in a more stately manner behind them.
"Look at you!" Cake finally released me, her caramel hair falling in her eyes. "You're so big now!"
"Heh, Cake, I'm the same size as you.""Yes but I missed you and you refuse to live up here." She pointed out. "Where were you? We expected you yesterday!"
"I was a bit hung up with trouble in Breighton." I laughed awkwardly.
"Speaking of..." Marshall extended his hand to Cake while the children clamored around us. A couple signs for Mochro left everything quiet. After a long pause, Cake spoke, looking away from Marshall to me. "Fionna, who is this, and why does he smell like a monster?"
"This is my soulmate, Marshall Lee."Cake crossed her arms. "Monsters don't have soulmates."
"I'm half-demon." He didn't even sound exasperated at this point."How do I know you haven't tricked my sister in some way?" Cake demanded.
Mochro signed something to her.
"He's a demon, and he smells like a monster! My little sister did nothing to deserve this!"
He signed something else, more insistently.
She paused, before sighing. "Fine, but I'm grilling him later to make sure he's legitimate and not some creep who has taken over my little sister's mind and is forcing her to do nasty stuff.""No no no no no!" I tried to explain, shaking my hands, as Marshall backed up in surprise.
"We just kiss!" He exclaimed. "That's... I would like to go further, but it doesn't seem like Fi is ready for that!"
"She better not be forced into anything. She is an innocent child!""I'm nineteen." I muttered, not that she heard me, or cared.
Marshall stood his ground this time. "I'm not about to force myself on anybody, cat. And I resent the accusation that I would!"
The kids let out an "Oooh," at the word 'cat', and Cake flinched. "I'm not going to start something with you, demon.""Half-demon." He corrected. "And if you change your mind, come find me. Anytime, anywhere!"
I stepped between them, and Mochro turned Cake to face him, signing urgently.
She scoffed, and he repeated the sign more urgently, before signing something else.
"...it's just... he's awful, and I don't want my sister near him." She muttered.
Mochro signed something else, and Cake crossed her arms. "And let him hurt her?"
More hurried signing.
"And how do you know that?!""Hi, Mochro. Long time no see." Marshall said, waving slightly.
Mochro signed something to Cake, who scowled. "He's been wrong before."
Mochro scowled and signed something else. The kids watched this with interest.
"And why did they break up? And why would a gay demon be interested in my sister?"
"Okay, I'm bi." Marshall pointed out. "And we broke up because he wasn't paying enough attention to things outside of his work, if you're talking about Gumwad."
