I’ve always did what I thought was best. What I thought would benefit us. I’ve always tried to be the best friend I can be. But in the end, I am always not enough.
“And the tears come streaming down your face. When you lost something you can’t replace. When you love someone but it goes to waste. Could it be worse?”
They will never be replaced. Someone new might come along but they’ll fill up a new space which no one has ever taken before. Never will they take the lost ones took.
“Lights will guide you home and ignite your bones. And I will try to fix you.”
Nagulat ako nang biglang may sumabay sa aking pag-kanta. Bigla naman akong nabalik sa realidad at natigil ang pag-iisip ko ng kung ano ano.
“And high up above or down below, when you’re too in love to let it go. But if you never try you’ll never know. Just what you’re worth.”
Hinayaan ko na siyang solohin yung part na yun. It seems like may pinaghuhugutan siya. He feels the song the way I do.
“Lights will guide you home and ignite your bones. And I will try to fix you.”
This time sabay nanaman kami. Then we stopped. Wala na saming nagtangka na ituloy pa ang pagkanta, Bigla kaming nabalot ng katahimikan. Awkward silence? Pwede na rin. I was about to speak nang magsalita siya.
“Hugh.” He said. “Hugh Gothico.” Pagpapatuloy niya habang nilalahad ang kanyang kamay.
“So, you actually think that I don’t know who ‘The Hugh Gothico’ is?” I chuckled while taking his hand.
“Hey kiddo, You’re kind of exaggerating. And you also think that I don’t know you Miss Reese Clemente? That’s just weird.” (Just so you people know, Reese and Ate Aria are different people I just used her surname here )
“You know me? That’s what weird is. How do you even know?”
“Soccer MVP for straight two years. Won district meets. And joined the famous ‘Palarong pambasa’. How can’t I know?” He said with a chuckle
“We lost at the Palarong pambansa. We weren’t enough that time. I wasn’t. Felt awful after that.”
“I think not. You’re great. I saw you play at a district meet last year.”
“Thank you.”
“No worries.” He smiled sweetly after.
I smiled back, of course.

Days went through as they usually do but this year, something’s quite different aside from the effects of those stupid things that happened last year. I have a new best friend which is Kuya Hugh, As I call him. Hugh Gothico you know him. I’m sure. How can you not? So we really got close to the fact that some people think that we’re already a “thing” or “on” but we’re not. It’s just that we understand each other so much. We’re very much alike, and that was what surprised me the most. I discovered so much about him, his dark sides and all. If you think about it, how can you know a person that much in a small period of time? For me? I really don’t know. Maybe it’s because you put so much trust in that person. Maybe because you see yourself in him or her. Maybe that’s just how it really goes. Or maybe it’s just me who thinks that way.
