Adrian and the others followed Julian into a lit up corridor. They had never been there before and it looked like nobody had been there for years. There were cobweb on the walls, the floor was dusty and the light was dimmer.
Adrian coughed several times. Sometimes even on other people. The reaction was either an insult or a kick on the foot.
Adrian was right at the back when he heard a whistling noise. He turned around in surprise and followed the whistle to a corner in the corridor. Stood in the corner was Flynn and for some reason it was really bright around him.
“Flynn, you scared me” Adrian said.
“Ssh. I need you to do me a favour” Flynn whispered.
“I haven’t got time to do you a favour. Even if I had, why would I?”
“All I need you to do is get me into Croper’s office. You’ve been there before just….”
“What?! How the heck do you know I’ve been there?!” Adrian yelled with fury.
“Uhm……I kind of…..broke into your mind.”
“You did what? Wait a minute. It was you who was the mind controller. You made the tarantella kill itself on the first day!”
“I’m not proud of it. It was just a heat of the moment thing. Anyways it only worked with the tarantella. I tried to control Brewland, but it didn’t work. All it did was get me into trouble.”
Adrian was surprised by Flynn’s powers. He almost forgot about him breaking into his mind. Suddenly Adrian felt his mind go blank and his rage calmed down.
“Hey! You’re trying to break into my mind!”
“I’m sorry I just really need your help. Croper took my rabbit away” he sobbed.
It almost looked like he is eyes were about to tear up.
“Alright alright. I’ll help you, but why would Croper take your rabbit.”
Flynn wiped his eyes and said “Flopsy was roaming around and Croper was talking to one of the elder people here. Somebody I’ve never seen before. He was furious about Flopsy so he put him in his office.”
“Flopsy” Adrian mouthed.
“I’ll help you, but you’ll have to do everything I say.”
Flynn nodded half-heartedly. They stepped out of the corner and Adrian could barely hear the others. The two went in the opposite direction and it took some time before they found their way out. When they did, they headed straight to the wall/entrance to Croper’s office.
Flynn paused behind Adrian.
“What are we doing here?”
“Didn’t you break into my mind? I thought you might know?”
“No. I’m not very good at controlling it. All I saw was a few images of you in the office.”
“Good. I don’t know want you seeing anything else” Adrian mumbled “Close your eyes.”
Adrian pulled him - by his arm - closer to the wall.
“Why should……” Flynn mumbled.
Adrian put a finger over his own mouth and Flynn stayed silent.
They both closed their eyes and Adrian opened them up after a few seconds. As expected they were in Croper’s office. All the glass pieces from the other day were gone. The chairs were lined up to the wall and the fireplace was turned off.
