Escaping

I stretched out my hand and she took it. Her and I ran up the long staircase. As we reached the door to exit the chamber I heard footsteps coming from behind us. I pushed Alyssa aside so that she was hidden behind me.  A lifeless body was thrown around te corner. Followed by another and another. Although, the bodies looked like dead guards. I moved foward and Alyssa followed. I peeked around the corner and saw a tall, teenage looking, boy fighting another guard. The boy was pinned to the ground and I saw his face: KC. He hadn't left. He was captured too. Even though he was a vampire, h estill could die or get knocked out with the right amount of impact. I ran around the corner and had the element of surprise. I got a good punch in. I kicked the guard in the gut, which threw him against the wall. I heard a crack and blood spilled everywhere. The guards were human? I leaned by KC and tried to wake him up. I slapped his face and nothing. I looked over at Alyssa. She looked scared, but I could see that she was only scared for KC.

I started crying. This couldn't be happening. It was all my fault. I was stupid and exposed vampires to Alyssa, which put her in danger. I brought them to the house and got us captured. I am a horrible being! I slapped his face again. This time out of anger. He should of left instead of fighting off stupid guards. Alyssa walked over to KC and put her hand on his arm. There was a blinding light again. yes. This was a dream inside a dream. Only this time the scene didn't change. This was real. The light was coming from Alyssa's hands. All of KC's wounds healed. His eyes fluttered open. I was smiling with a tear streaked face. He smiled back a lifted his hand to wipe away my tears. I looked over at Alyssa confused. She healed him? How?

There was no time for questions. I ran over to the guards and grabbed two stakes. I gave one to KC and tucked the other in my pocket.

"You stay behind us. Understand?" I whispered to Alyssa. She shook her head yes. "Oh, and thank you"

She smiled and helped KC up.

"Maybe she should be in the middle of us. I think we got all the guards, but I just want to be safe." KC whispered.

"Good idea K..." I paused. I saw another black blur.

KC pushed Alyssa foward so that she was between us. Those certain guards were human, but this was definately a vampire. His movements were fast, but I was faster. I took my stake and swung it. He was to close to Alyssa. KC pushed Alyssa against the wall, so that nothing could get to her.I squared off with this vamp, while one had come at KC. As much as my heart told me to protect KC, I had to put Alyssa first.I positioned my stake and stabbed the vampire and watched as he turned into a pile of ash. Another one came at me. Her blonde, almost white, hair was covering her face. She charged towards me and I saw her face: Cheyenne. As she saw my face she paused to. She was the only vampire left in the whole building. Why? Why does life have to be so cruel?

Alyssa recognized her and gasped.

"This," I paused gesturing around the room "Is why you left?" my voice cracked.

KC shot a confused glance at me.

"I left because I was forced by him" no one had to know our situation to know who he was. Justin.

"Wait, wait, wait. Who is this?" KC asked

"She's my sister" I answered

"Stella... Always finding trouble. Now I have to kill you for it."

"You're not really going to kill your own sister, are you?"

"Don't you remember? I'm the one Justin took and got cursed." She answered

How could I forget that? I asked myself sarcastically. She was my older sister, and at the time, I didn't put up much of a fight. She refused to let Justin take me, so she went with him, and he cursed her to be his personal whore/slave/army commander. She was supposed to be with him until he...

"Wait!" I shouted as she was getting ready to lunge for me

"What?!" She yelled

"I killed Justin! The curse should be broken" That's all I had to say to make her freeze.

She just stood there mouth gaping. Was it possible that the curse would last until she died? No. He had to be fully dead. Believe me... I killed him, but his body hasn't decomposed yet. But, it should within the next five minutes.

Something within Cheyenne snapped. She fell to her knees, but not because of sorrow or relief. A black spirit was slowly drawn out of her as a gold one drifted in. Then, she passed out. I ran over to her and grabbed her by the hand. There were no guards left, so I grabbed a pack of matches, that happened to be on the ground, and dragged Cheyenne through the house. KC was stronger than me so I gave him Cheyenne's arm and he easily threw her over his shoulder, but still kept Alyssa close. I grabbed the car keys from the TV stand and rushed out of the house, with KC, Cheyenne, and Alyssa in tow. There was only one car, so it wasn't like I had to goo through a thousand different cars trying to figure which one the keys belonged to. It was a black SUV that had a huge lightning bolt, that, ironically, happened to be the one I saw Justin drive off in when he set my house on fire and took Cheyenne. I tossed the keys to KC, and, without hesitation, he jumped in the car and started up the engine. I just stood in the spot thinking about something.

"Get in the damn car!" KC yelled at me

"Wait! I'll be right back!" I yelled back

"Hurry! There could be more guards on their way!" I could hear the pain in his voice, but I couldn't decide if it was because of me or something else.

With a quick nod I headed back to the house. I pulled out the box of matches and struck one.

"Paybacks a bitch, Justin!" I yelled at the ground, because I was pretty sure he didn't go to Heaven.

I threw the match into house and then struck another and threw it into house and so on. I ran back into the car and sat in the passanger side and we drove off. When we were safely away KC grabbed my hand and we drove back to his apartment.
