Chapter 3
Lana’s P.O.V.
I headed to my next class, Chemistry. I knew I had to talk to Katie sooner or later, even though I didn’t like what she had said before. Though I had no right to freak out on her. She was right. Parker was gone, and I needed to get over him.
I walked into my Chemistry class right before the bell rang. Perfect. Seeing my usual spot next to Katie open, I headed swiftly toward it. I sat down, and turned my head to Katie. She was looking straight at me. I could see she was wondering what to say.
“Katie look-”
“No. It’s my fault. I shouldn’t have even brought up Parker in the first place. I know there’s a part of you that doesn’t want to let go, and I shouldn’t have interfered with it.” She said.
“Yeah, but Katie-”
“No Lana, let me finish. I was wrong. I know how much he means to you, and I’m sorry.”
I stopped and looked genuinely at her, “Katie. I overreacted about the whole thing, and I understand that it’s been two years I had just started to get over it, even though He’ll always be a subject that’ll never heal. No matter what anyone says… he’ll always have a piece of my heart.”
She looked at me and I swear I saw sadness for me flash across her eyes. All I needed was pity. Great. “So if you can please forgive me, and can we please be best friends again?” She said making a little puppy dog face. Fail.
I giggled at her face, “We never stopped being best friends.”
Katie smiled a huge mega-watt smile and hugged me. I laughed, “Great to have you back bestie!” Katie laughed too.
At that moment, as if right on cue Mr. Sanders cleared his throat and looked at us. He was the youngest teacher at our school. He had graduated early and finished teaching college pretty quick. He had light-ish brown hair, and green eyes. Now it was kind of awkward, because Mr. Sanders was exactly my older sister’s age and they had been dating for a while. So let’s just say he knew me and my family personally. Did I mention awkward? But then again… he had almost been like an older brother of mine.
He motioned for silence. We lowered our eyes and glanced around to see what the other kids were doing. Seat work. Yes! I quickly threw my books on my desk making it look like I was preoccupied. I looked back up to Mr. Sanders and smiled. He laughed under his breath a bit, and shook his head.
I giggled back to Katie, and we got to work on our textbook work. Bleh. I loved Chemistry, though the textbook work was by far the most boring thing ever! And the minute the bell rang I was outta there, eager to get to lunch, with Katie hanging onto my arm for dear life.
