Memories of You - Chapter 4
Lana’s P.O.V.
I peeked one of my eyes open. I was in my room, and I felt the familiar silk bed sheets brush against my skin. Confused, I thought back to what must’ve happened. I started to hear footsteps coming towards my room.
I shut my eyes back, and tried to think. I don’t have much time.
School.
No record of Parker.
Walking.
Home.
Chocolate eyes.
I opened my eyes back and they widened almost instantly.
“Oh God.” I said, while the door to my bedroom opened, as the footsteps had slowed.
I hadn’t prepared myself for this.
My eyes met the eyes I’d longed to see for years. Familiar chocolate.
“P-Parker?” I asked, my voice breaking at the end.
The boy just nodded his head once and stood back up straighter. I took this time to study him. He looked like my Parker, but a bit different. His face had the same structure, and this boy had the same eyes, but there was a scar on his cheek. His hair, seemed a bit longer though, and through his tight black shirt, I could see the faint ripple of muscles that were surely there.
I let out a small gasp, “Say something.”
He just looked into my eyes, “Hey.”
Just as I had imagined. His voice was a little bit different too. It was lower, more defined, I guess.
The tears I had managed to keep from spilling over came crashing down and I got up off the bed to meet him still standing in the doorway. He just kept standing where he was. I reached out my hand to touch him. To make sure he was actually real, and not a strange hallucination, but sure enough, I felt the warmth of his skin.
I immediately jumped on him.
My hands went around his shoulders, and I kissed him with all I could.
I hugged him to me as tight as I could.
Sure enough, as I had thought, he had gained muscle.
I felt his hesitance, though in a couple seconds he had wrapped two strong arms around to envelop me. One strong hand went to support me by my waist, and the other went to my neck.
We kissed, like that night. The fateful night he left me. How everything stopped, and it was just us. My lips moved in sync with his, and everything was perfect.
The spark that we had always had together was intensified in my heart, and somehow I knew everything was going to be alright.
When we finally broke apart, I laid my head into his chest, and breathed in. He smelled the same, that warm inviting scent that I’d loved to smell, that made me think of home. How many days I’d wished for this day to be. How many days I longed for this moment to come, and now it was here.
His fingers were drawing little circles on my lower back, making me feel more relaxed.
“Where have you been?” I asked, still clinging to him, as if he was life support.
He stiffened, and I could see he was hesitant, “I-I…”
I looked up at him, “What is it?”
“Lana, I’m so sorry.” He said, his voice hitting a place in my heart, I knew I had long bordered up. He let me stand on my own feet, gaining some of my balance.
“For what Parker? For what?”
“For leaving, for everything.” He said, taking a step back, breaking our contact.
“...That doesn’t answer my question Parker.”
“Lana… I can’t. I’m so sorry. I just...” He said.
My head cocked to the side and I reached out to touch him but he backed away a bit.
“I-I told you to forget me.”
My tears started falling again.
Did he really just say that?
“P-Parker. You left me on a whim, and them you sent me a letter to forget you. You actually think I would? How could you think that I’d forget you!? Did you not just feel what I felt THERE? Or are you DELIBERATELY trying to make me HURT!?” by now I was yelling.
He stepped in with his arms outstretched, but I backed away a step with my arm out.
“Don’t. I can’t believe you Parker. After a year, you just decide to return. FOR WHAT!? Just so you could prance back into my life like nothing happened?!” I was a bit furious to say the least.
I’d finally come to my senses.
How dare he.
How dare he think that it was going to be alright!
I waited for him! WAITED for him! To what avail?
To realize he wasn’t going to come back?
To fall through depression?
I was done with this.
I’d finally started to get over him.
“Lana” He said. I put my hand up again.
“No.” I said, barely holding onto my tears anymore, and letting them fall freely, “You don’t get to do this.”
We just stood in this position for a bit.
“Well. I just came to say I’m back. I‘m sorry for causing so much pain.” He said with finality
And he walked out, but not before taking a last longing look at me over his shoulder, “Forget me.”
And with that he left. He left, and I slumped. How could he just show up, and think that everything was going to be okay. Why’d he tell me to forget him!?
