"Hey Kate" Stiles greeted the girl at the desk with a quick wave. She buzzed us through and Stiles instantly walked to his fathers office. I kind of figured that this would be the kind of information that would be told through a deputy, or maybe victim services. Not straight from the sheriff. Stiles knocked once on the door and then opened it. The sheriff was talking to what looked a deputy. He was way taller then me and had brown hair and a big distracting forehead.
"We'll talk later Parrish." The Sheriff said. The deputy looked at me for a few seconds and nodded. He gave me a small nod as he walked out. "Have a seat Rosemary. Stiles, do you mind waiting outside?"
Stiles looked kind of insulted at his dad. "What? I wanna hear!" He said like a toddler. His father looked absolutely done with his shit and pointed at the door.
"Stiles. Out. " He repeated. Stiles turned around and took place at Parrish's desk, leaving the door open and him in hearing range. The sheriff sighed and closed the door behind him and walked back to his desk.
"We got this letter today from the Montgomery PD with some new evidence they'd like you to over see." He started and handed me two pieces of paper. I quickly read through the first one which was just basic information about the case, probably just to inform the cops here. The second piece of paper I did find interesting.
At 11 pm June 5th the crime scene was breached, the suspect(s) did not take anything from the house, but returned a necklace.
I saw the photo of the necklace and instantly recognized it. It was a silver necklace with a small wolf pendant on it. I got it from my sister for Christmas seven years ago and lost it like half a year ago.
"I recognize the necklace." I said. "I thought it was-" I couldn't finish my sentence because screaming came from behind the door. Stiles' screaming.
"Stay back." The sheriff ordered. He stood up and walked to the door, pulling out his gun in the progress. I stood up from my chair as well and faced the door. The sheriff opened the door and then instantly closed it after he got a small peak.
"In there." He pointed at a door behind his desk. I was frozen in my place so he grabbed my arm and basically pushed me in what looked like a supply closet. "Hide in here. I'll get you when it's safe." He locked the door behind me. I heard gunfire coming from the other room and more screaming.
The small room I was cramped up in had three bookcases in it, making the room even smaller. Each bookshelf had what looked like case files in it. They were piling up and the bookcases look like they might explode one of these days.
I heard the door open to the office and slow footsteps walking around, until they stopped right in front of my door. My heart pounded like crazy because it was obvious, this wasn't sheriff Stilinski. The door handle went down and the door opened fast, so fast that it was literally ripped out.
In front of me stood a man twice my size, he looked homeless. His clothes were covered in dirt and blood. His brown, long hair was dirty and peeked out every side. His beard was long and around his mouth was blood. I screamed as hard as I could, still hoping that someone was alive to hear me.
"Shhhh Rosemary" The man whispered. His red eyes looked at me as his lips curled up in the biggest smile I had ever seen. He seemed ecstatic, He took a step closer to me and his smile only grew wider. He touched my cheek with the back of his hand and started mumbling things.
"They tried to keep us apart, but I got rid of them. I am only here to protect you my angel. We will be together" He mumbled and grabbed a lock of my hair to play around with. A few tears rolled down my cheeks. "shhh don't cry, we'll be together soon" He talked weird, like he was trying to hold something inside of his mouth. He looked away for a second and I swear I saw that his ears looked like the ones from The Lord of the Rings.
He was dead quiet for a second, allowing me to also hear the footsteps and voices coming our way. I saw my opportunity and started screaming my lungs out. The guy tried covering my mouth but I kicked him in the nuts as hard as I could. It didn't affect him as much as I thought it would but he did look very angry at me. He then turned around and jumped out of the window. Just like that. I was frozen on my spot.
What the fuck just happened?
I fell to my knees and covered my crying eyes with my hands. Images of my family came back flowing in my mind, the ones that I had been trying to avoid remembering for the last few months. My chest felt empty, like there wasn't a healthy heart inside my chest, only black void. I felt lonely and scared. It didn't make sense, none of it did. His voice sounded so familiar. Calming almost.
I heard the door to the office open and looked up. It was the deputy from before. Parrish or something. He didn't see me at first, but when he did he immediately walked over to me.
"Are you injured?" He asked and looked at me with inspecting eyes. I was about to say no when I saw that his eyes widened a bit. I followed his gaze and only saw my own stupid, clumsy self. The window was broken and there was glass all over the floor. The floor I sat down on.
"I guess I am" I mumbled. My mind felt clouded, still trying to comprehend what just happened. I dried my tears with the back of my hand and tried standing up with help of the deputy. I was about halfway through when a pain shot through both my legs. I felt back and got a good look at my legs. They were covered in blood with glass sticking out on different spots. It looked like I was just wearing red pants. Which was a comforting thought for someone that gets sick at the sight of blood.
Parrish used his radio to send another ambulance here. I didn't get it at first, but when I looked through the open door I saw Stiles being placed on one of those hospital beds with his father at his side. Who also looked injured.
"Rosemary?" Parrish asked again. I looked at him with blurry tear filled eyes.
"There is an ambulance on the way for you, but they can't get a bed in this office. I'm going to carry you okay?" He spoke very carefully, like I just learned how to speak English.
"Okay" My voice broke halfway through making me sound even more weak. He carefully put one of his arms under my knees. I winced at the pain but tried ignoring it mostly. He put his other arm around my shoulder and stood up. We heard the sirens of the ambulance coming closer so he carefully carried me all the way outside and placed me down on the bed.
Things kind of went blurry. The adrenaline started wearing off. I could hear the people of the ambulance talk to each other and to me, But I couldn't get myself to answer. Before I even realized we were driving the doors of the hospital already opened.
"Female, around the age of 16. Multiple glass wounds on both legs" One of the ambulance workers summed up. "Deputy said her name is Rosemary"
I heard someone shouting my name in the distance and then my mom appearing above me. She looked very tired and surprised. She walked with the other nurses beside my bed and started talking to me. But I didn't hear any of it. Small dots started appearing in front of my eyes, like I was watching an old movie. But before I could pass out I had to say one last thing to her.
"Mom, he wasn't human"
