John POVKylie stepped away from me and over to the side of Paige's bed.
"Shh!" she held up a finger behind her to aggressively shushed us even though we weren't making any sounds.
A little a squeak emerged from Paige's lips and more excitement filled the room.
"Paigie? Can you hear us?" My mom asked her as she pushed passed me to get up next to the bed. My mom put her hand on Paige's forehead and pushed her hair back. "You can wake up." She said.
"How come I don't get this much attention every morning?" She sassed before opening her eyes. It took a second but we all started laughing. "Can I have some water?" She reached out toward the cup sitting at the end of the bed.
"Of course, of course you can sweetie." My mom jumped up and rushed to fulfill her wish as I tried to hide my annoyance with the way she babied her. Obviously I didn't do a very good job when my father smacked my arm and glared at me. I left the room.
Paige POV
I sipped water and scanned the room. Every one was looking at me with concern. "Where's Derek?" I asked directing my question to no one in particular.
"In the other room." Replied Kylie as she pointed across the hallway.
"What? Why? Wait, why am I here? What's wrong with Derek?" I started to panic as reality started to hit.
"He was shot." Said Pete.
"How? By who?" I asked frantically trying to pull the blankets off of me so I could get out of bed.
"Calm down Paige." My dad commanded as he gently lowered me back down and I suffered a painful head rush.
"Paigie something awful happened at your brothers house, your not safe there. You can move back in with me and your father."
"What? No." I said with a confused and angry tone.
"Honey slow down." My dad said to my mom. "Why didn't you tell us anything?" My dad said this time directed toward me.
"What do you mean?" I asked him. No one said anything. "Kylie?" I turned toward her and she looked at me with concern. "Can someone please tell me something?" I yelled. I was frustrated at whatever was going on in this room. I didn't even notice the tears escaping my eyes when Kylie stood up and placed her hand on my back.
"Ryan...?" She said, half question half statement.
"Ryan?" I asked back.
Then, I remembered.

Everyone had left the room except Kylie and I
"I didn't understand." She said to me. "Ryan was lost, and confused and hateful. He wasn't human." She whispered.
"He drugged me and held me in the outhouse at the park." I cried. Not even caring about how stupid I sounded. "He said I was the target that would tear apart the family. He was gonna kill me." I whispered. "But all he needed to know was what family was and he stopped."
"Why didn't you tell anyone?" Kylie asked. She sounded angry.
"Why didn't you?" I snapped back. "Ryan was lost and unstable." I said in a more kind tone. "He was jealous. He never had a family." I sighed. "And now thanks to me he's outside being chased with a weapon and his own thoughts, Derek has a hole in his body, and My parents hate my brother, I have to move back home, and you can see the stress in everyones faces!" I started balling again. "This is all my fault."
"Don't." She snapped at me.
"Then whose fault is it?" I snapped at her.
"I don't know, Mine...? I didn't say anything, I called the-"
I cut her off. "Stop you hypocrite!" I kinda yelled and kinda laughed. I couldn't help it.
"Gosh some people's lives are just so messed up." Kylie said on a lighter note.
