Trigger Warning
Paige POV
Jared wasn't at school on Thursday or Friday. He isn't answering texts. After Monday, We never really talked much at school. He seemed tired. Usually I walk home with Jared, but since Wednesday, he's either way behind of me or way ahead, either way I don't see him. So, I walk home alone. When I got back to John's house, no one was in the living room. Every single day when I get home, everyone is in the living room together.
I went to John's room first, empty. Then Pete's, empty. Then Derek's. They were all sitting in Derek's room talking about something. Derek had his back towards me so everyone but him stopped talking. Pete nodded towards me and Derek turned around.
"Welcome to our premises!" Pete gestured toward the whole room.
"Thanks." I said hesitantly, and walked over toward them. "What are you guys talking about? Usually everyone is in the living room."
"Yeah, we were just talking about how you might move in and stuff." Derek said.
"And stuff?" I questioned.
"What?" He looked confused.
"Derek, you wouldn't be hiding from me if it wasn't something worth hiding from me." I tried not to laugh, but I did.
"Listen Paige, what we are talking about is not our responsibility to tell you."
"Then who's is it?"
"You'll have to wait that one out." He said. "Now lets go back to the living room and do something."
"Drop Dead Diva!" Shouted Pete. I was surprised when no one said no. We were shuffling down the hall into the living room like anxious tourists when the door bell rang. John and Pete mauled their way through us in order to fulfill the goal of reaching the door before the other person does. They turned the corner and all I heard was banging, yelling and laughing as they very clearly struggled to succeed in accessing the door. I heard the the door open, and the war was silenced.
"Ohhh hey Jared!" Pete tried to casually yell so I would hear him. I blushed and unnecessarily shoved Derek up against the wall to move him out of my way.
"Excuse me!" I added a little bit to late. And then came the door with Jared. His flannel unbuttoned, and his white shirt showing. "Hi Jared." I stopped smiling when I saw the expression on his face. His face was pale and he looked sick. "Where have you been?"
"I need to talk to you." He looked terrified, but he looked right into my eyes. I glanced around my shoulder and noticed that everyone had gone back to Derek's room.
"Ok."
"Paige, I love you so much and know this will probably hurt."
"What is it?" I was so scared after those words escaped his mouth."
"I've missed you all week long, and I shouldn't have been avoiding you but I was so scared and-"
"Jared." I interrupted him. "I love you, and nothing will change that." He started taking off his flannel.
