Haru was always a composed individual. And the most emotion he had ever had was when he was around water. To him, water and swimming was everything. He loved it. But he didn't know it would kill the one he loved.

"Haru! [F/N] is at the lake and she's drowning! The whole village is trying to help her but she disappeared into the water! We need you now!" His best friend frantically said as he stopped what he was doing and dashed quickly to the lake nearby. He pushed through the big crow of people and immediately dove in, not caring that he was still fully clothed.

Since Haru had surprisingly clear eyesight underwater, he was able to spot you. You were unconscious and sinking deeper and deeper down the river. He knew that you couldn't swim and it scared him to witness water taking your life away. Haru swam even faster and caught ahold of your body and swam to the surface as fast as he could.

When he got you onto dry land, he immediately checked to see if you were breathing. His own breath stopped for a second when he felt no air come out of your nostrils or mouth. Maybe she still has a pulse, he thought hurriedly, clearly in a state of panic, contrasting to his calm demeanor. He tried to feel for your pulse and felt nothing. His eyes widened in fear and surprise.

She can't be dead.

She can't be.

Oh, but she was. She was long gone.

Hopefully I'll see you in another life Haru...

- Present Day -

Haru sat on a chair and stayed on guard for any people who were in need of help. He figured that he should get a job and there was an opening at the beach for a lifeguard. Haru didn't hesitate and took the job immediately. If he was going to work for six hours a day, it was going to be something he loved. And he loved water. It was also good practice when someone needed help and he needed to zoom over to them. So basically, it was win win situation.

The black haired male was slowly zoning out until he heard a loud 'help' go off. He checked on his binoculars to see if that person really needed help and they did, obvious from their frantic flailing on the water. People nearby went to help but they were too far off shore and couldn't reach her. Haru immediately ran into the water and swam quickly for them before they could drown.

When they both had gotten into land, Haru checked if they were okay.

"Are you hurt anywhere?"

"No not physically,"

"How did you get that far?"

"I tried to go back to shore but an oncoming wave pushed me back and I lost balance,"

"Next time be careful. Stay where you can't be washed over by the waves," Haru reminded as they nodded.

"And last of all, what's your name?"

"What?"

"Your name. I need it to fill in this report,"

"My name is [L/N] [F/N]," she stated. Haru paused for a moment because that name sounded fairly familiar. [L/N] [F/N]? He swore he had never seen you before and yet, your felt so familiar. In fact, the whole incident felt familiar.

Before you left, you asked for his name as well.

"Haruka Nanase,"

"Haruka huh? That sounds awfully familiar to me. I swore be never seen you before but you seem so familiar,"

"Call me Haru," he said as you smiled.

"Haru it is then. I'll come back soon to repay you,"

"For what?"

"For saving my life! I don't know how to swim and I would've been dead if you didn't save me. So I want to owe you!"

"No, that's not necessary. I'm a lifeguard so it's my job,"

"Well lifeguard or not, I'll do it anyways," you replied stubbornly. Before you walked out, you gave Haru a piece of paper with your number and told him to call you if he had any questions.

"Well, I'll see you soon, Haru," you smiled at him and left.

As you walked home, you thought to yourself,

It's almost like I've met him in another life.

A/N- I don't know how to swim lol. But anyways, to the person who requested this, I apologize if this wasn't as good. I don't really read reincarnation AU's so I don't really know how to write one.
