(txt) Maine: Hey. How are you?Justin read 12:53pm
Just as fast as Maine had hit send, so did the notification of him opening the text message appeared on the screen. With a sigh, Maine tossed the device into her bag.
It has been a week since Justin has started ignoring her as if their friendship never happened and the silence of it all killed her. She was so used to his company, his constant presence even when he wasn't physically there, that it was such a strange feeling to have him simply be a name on her phone.
She needed someone to talk to, her life was far too quiet - the only noise filling her head were her thoughts. Justin used to be her distraction, her sense of escape - and as each day passed of him shutting her out, the voices in her head grew louder and louder.
Letting out a frustrated groan, Maine stood up from her seat and headed over to her neighboring blue tent.
"Beeks." She barged into her co-star's makeshift dressing room - not bothering to notify him whether she was coming in or not.
He was laid out on his reclining chair, trying to get some shut eye before they were called to do their scene.
"Don't call me that." He said monotonously, not bothering to open his eyes.
"Beeks. Beeks. Beeks." Maine repeated, taking a seat on a green plastic chair right beside him.
Peeping through one of his leads, he was greeted by a smiling Maine - a wave of her fingers as a greeting. "Ano naman ang gusto mo?" He sighed, sitting up.
"Usap tayo."
"Maine." He whined.
Since she had no Justin to keep her company, Vico was the next in line to bother. And this wasn't a hard task to achieve considering the two's schedule calls them to spend the majority of their day together.
"Please, maloloka na ako." She pouted.
"Nasaan ba si Annie, bakit 'di siya ang kausapin mo?"
"Tulog."
"Buti pa siya." Vico grumbled. "Ano ba kasi ang gusto mo pagusapan?"
Though he acted annoyed of her most of the time, it was very hard to resist her. She was like that annoying pesky little sister he had no choice in having. But at the end of the day, he still cared deeply for - as if he didn't already have one of those.
"Basta." She waved off.
Balling his hands into fists, Vico held them out in front of the two of them. "Pick. Left or right."
Maine gave him a look.
"Pili na kasi." He shook them.
"Okay okay! Left." She tapped her finger on his hand.
"Okay, Alden."
She was confused again. "Excuse me?"
"Oh eh di si Justin na lang." Vico offered his other fist. It was his way of starting up a conversation and Maine was not impressed.
Frowning, she crossed her arms over her chest. "I meant distract me from my thoughts, not feed it."
"Hirap ng buhay mo, dalawang gwapo pinapagagawan ka. I don't know how you sleep at night." Vico sighed dramatically, clutching his chest with one hand and pretending to wipe a tear with another.
Maine rolled her eyes at his antics, already used to his sarcastic remarks. "You're so annoying."
"Pumili ka na kasi!"
