Ryan, Michael, Jack and Caiti chose to run out to the car for the food. There had been about 6 walkers sighted in the parking lot, but probably more wandering around. The streetlights were still on, so the group had light to work with, but it was still creepy; dark shadows moving in front of darker shadows, sudden noises from bushes and buildings and occasionally a scream from structures down the road. The group was jogging at a slow pace, Michael leading with his pipe, Ryan at the back protecting the group from behind and Jack and Caiti keeping watch from the sides.

The car came into sight; the silver sedan had a long scratch along the car where a railing on the road scraped the paint off. The driver’s side door and a backseat door were left open in the hurry to get into the building.  Michael curved round to the trunk and popped it open. Michael and Jack were going to defend while Ryan and Caiti grabbed the food, Jack may be slow but he had a lot of weight behind him, so he would come down hard with a pipe. There were about 6 large plastic bags of food, basics like bread, water bottles and some meats. Ryan passed 3 of the lighter bags to Caiti’s waiting hands, the other 3 had fluids and other heavy items in them, he took those bags so Caiti could run faster. A grunt was heard from Jack as a walker was smashed to the ground by Jack’s pipe, Michael copying with an overweight zombie crumbling to the concrete lot floor.

The group began to move back towards the building, “C’mon, let’s get back, are you right with the bags?” Ryan asked the woman running alongside him, “Yeah yeah, I got first place for my high school cross-country carnival, I’m fine” Caiti replied with a determined smile.  Then she fell.
