"Come on out Averie." I say once I leave the Radio Tower. She pops out of her Pokéball and materializes on the ground in front of me. Her fluffy tail wags rapidly.

"C'mon girl," I say as I pick her up. "We're going on an adventure." She yips and wriggles She's been seeming very excitable lately. It's kind of strange; as soon as the moon comes up she's out like a light.

I start to walk to the daycare center. It isn't far. That's one good thing about this region--- I don't have to walk far to get anywhere.

I wonder will Peridot recognize me. I hope not. Though, I haven't changed my appearance much. I'm going to rely on the fact that it's been four years since he last saw me.

I arrive at the Daycare and it doesn't take long for me to spot Peridot. He's in the field next to the center, playing with an Azumarill and Togetic.

I guess the picture they showed was taken a while ago; Peridot looks different. His hair is shorter and darker than the picture. In fact, it's almost completely brown. He looks a little older too, face not as rounded, eyes not as large.

"Peridot Olivine," I call. He turns to me with a questioning look on his face. He stares at me for a long time. Actually, I don't think he's looking at me. His eyes are glazed over and vacant.

"Um, excuse me?" He snaps back to reality.

"Oh, I'm sorry," Peridot says. "You just look like someone in person." Dammit, I think he knows it's me. "You're Stephanie. Faerydae's assistant."

...Don't ask about Akia's name. I wanted her to choose something simple but she didn't want to listen. Apparently Faerydae means something about evil children and fairies. And they call me the crazy one...

"The Kan-Johto league is requesting your assistance." He stares at me, a slightly disturbed look on his face.

"W-why? Did I do something?"

"No, you did nothing. But it would be best if I waited to explained." Truth is I don't feel like it.

He looked even more nervous. Peridot nods and excuses himself, running into the daycare center presumably to tell the people in charge. He comes out a while later, apron removed and a more appropriate shirt on. Good, he's not as thoughtless as he looks.

"I-I don't know who that is." As if his voice wasn't unconvincing enough he has the face of someone who tried to steal someone else's Pokemon.

"Peridot," Lance says in his most commanding voice. "We know you know them"

Peridot takes a deep breath. Could this meeting last any longer? Akia and about five other gym leaders were half asleep and anyone under thirty was completely distracted. Well, except for Lance and Jasmine. Wait, is Lance over thirty? Ah, who cares?

"Okay, okay," Peridot says. "Let's say that in a completely hypothetically and completely made up situation of absolute fiction that I may have some hypothetical limited knowledge of these people. If this hypothetical situation was real, which there is a less than point zero zero one percent chance of there actually being some type of truth to that statement, what would you do to these people, in a realistic hypothetical sense?"

Lance blinks then turns to me. I guess I'm the 'extra' translator. "Are you gonna hurt the two kids?"

Lance looks at Jasmine. "Well, that depends on what they're planning."

"So you will hurt them," Peridot decides. "Then I won't tell you." Someone mutters 'can we go now.'

"Peridot, I could have you arrested for treason." Everyone who is still awake groans loudly.

"Hey Lance," the Dark type elite four member, I think her name's Karen, says. "How about you send Stephanie and him to go find these kids?"

I look at her. "Why me? What did I do?"

"Well for one," Lance begins, "You shouldn't even be here." I mean, he's right. Besides, if I can get out of their sight long enough, I might be able to actually work out my plan.

"You know you can't watch us while we do this," I say calmly. I don't want them on to me. "The two kids will be expecting that."

Lance considers this and agrees. "Peridot, I hope you didn't have any plans." Peridot says nothing. He looks scared.

Lance continues talking. "You'll leave tomorrow. That'll be enough time to arrange things." I don't know what he could be arranging, but I don't ask. I don't really care so long as it doesn't interfere with my goals.

Peridot gives a nervous smile to Jasmine. I don't thinks she's paying attention. Instead she's on her Pokégear doing Arceus knows what.

"Stephanie, Faerydae." I look up and Akia jolts awake. It's Lance talking. As if he ever stops. "The two of you should return to Ecruteak. Stephanie needs to prepare."

"Huh? Yeah, whatever. C'mon Steph." Akia grabs my arm and drags me out of the meeting room before anyone can say anything else.

"So what does Lance want you to do," she asks one we're in the elevator.

I have two options right now. Tell her what I'm going to do or tell her what Lance wants me to do. Either way I'll be lying to her and I don't really enjoy lying.

School. That's all. I'm going to say. That's all that needs to be said.

Really though, school. But now it's over, at least until August for me.

Next chapter later this week! Bye!!!
