Title: Red Velvet
Scene 47: Inside/ Cafe
Ale sits down waiting for her coffee. She sets down her bag full of notebooks and other utensils. She pulls a strand of hair behind her ear and starts to look through her bag pulling out her math notebook and a pencil. From the outside Calum walks by the window she's seated in and quickly walks into the place a small bell at the door ringing. He quickly peaks over at her and sits on a booth.
Waiter: How may I help you?
Calum: Yes actually what did she order?
Waiter: A coffee.
Calum: A coffee only?
The waiter nods and he fishes out a 5 dollar bill handing it to the woman.
Ale concentrates her attention down on the problems and stops as soon as a ceramic cup and plate are placed down on her table.
Ale:(confused) I actually didn't order this.
The waiter ignores her walking away. She sits looking down at the red velvet cupcake with white fluffy whipped cream. Her attention on the small silver ring with a heart.
Calum: Ale?
Ale:(looks up quickly) Calum?
Calum: I thought I recognized you.
Ale: What are you doing here?
Calum: It's a cafe. I think I'm free to be here.
Ale:(nods) Right, sorry.
Calum: That's cute the cupcakes come with a small accessory.
Ale: I think the order was a mistake. I never asked for a cupcake.
Calum pushes her shoulders down at her attempt of getting up with the pastry in her hand.
Calum: Just keep it I mean I saw they cost 3 bucks and you just got one for free.
Ale:(realization hits) You're right.
Calum: You mind if I sit here?
Ale hesitates before shaking her head. Calum slides into the booth and she simply goes back to the open notebook.
Calum: Homework?
Ale:(sighs) Unfortunately yeah.
Calum: What subject maybe I can help.
Ale:(looks between paper and Calum) Math.
Calum: That's the easiest subject.
Ale: Then how do you do this problem?
Ale hands him the notebook and he scans the problem. He hums and sets it down between them.
Calum: Use the equation given then you have to find the a, b, and c. After that just use the quadratic formula.
Ale grabbed the notebook and followed Calum's advice. She easily solved it and boxed the answer.
Ale: I'm not giving credit.
The waiter interrupts and hands Calum his coffee. He thanks her and starts to stand before Ale stops him.
Ale:(nervous) Calum wait.
Calum looks down at her still not taking a step.
Calum: Yeah?
Ale:(hesitant) Would you mind helping me with this? I may act like I have my shit together but this lesson is throwing me off completely.
