"Sir, I'm not sure what you're asking me to do,"The nervous soldier stands at attention, awaiting an answer. She eagerly watches her commanding officer aimlessly wandering around the small office. There was an awkward pause as the officer grabs an antique sword off a wall. The officer began wandering around the room twirling it around and jabbing at an invisible enemy, several times the soldier had to restrain herself from grabbing the sword from the mans hands.
"You know very well what I'm asking you Jones, and I'm sure you also know what's going to happen if you don't do it," the officer stopped, and sat on an intimidatingly large leather chair behind his desk, yet even the impossibly gigantic chair could not dwarf the officer, instead, it created an even more menacing look.
"S-Sir? I don't know what you're talking about." The soldier, Jones, says. "please don't make me do this, I'm begging you,"
Jones starts walking towards the officers desk nervous and white knuckled from her death grip on her wrists. she stops suddenly, as the officer stands up and inspects the blade, for a moment it seems as if the officer is contemplating if he could just force her to do it at sword point.
"Do you know what kind of sword this is, Jones?" the officer asks.
"n-no sir," Jones mumbles, her eyes nervously darting around the room scanning for a back door, an open window, anything that she could use as an escape route.
"Neither do I," he pauses and looks closely at the blade,
"But I do know that theres only one thing about it that matters," the officer, ever so slowly, lifts the sword tip until it rests directly under her throat."Do you know what that is, Jones?" he forces Jones to lift her head.
"Sir?" She says with false confidence, eyes locked onto the dark, menacing ones of the officer.
"It's that at any given moment, whoever possesses it can use it to destroy anything so, effortlessly" The officer tenses his hand and readies his arm, but before the officer has a chance to do anything, jones makes one swift, fluid movement.
She throws his sword across the room and hears it clatter against a wall. He ducks under his desk and she takes advantage of him being occupied by grabbing a knife off of the desk.
Jones barely finishes unsheathing it as he pops back up with another sword just as menacing as the last. Shes paralyzed as he steadies his hand.
He swings the sword across the desk but she gets ahold of her self and jumps back.
"Are you done faking now....Black?" The officer says, slightly out of breath.
Jones back pedals trying to find a way out of the room that she missed the first time, but her plans are shut down as the officer closes the distance between them in no time. He lunges at her and she jumps to the side, parrying the blade.
"I have no idea who you're talking about" she says and finds herself backing towards the desk.
She moves behind the desk as the officer brings down his blade, she drops down and the back of the chair is barely enough to stop his sword.
"Black, you know what I mean, I know who you are." The officers breathing was noticeably ragged now "What you do" he gasped "what you've done," he finishes trying to pull his sword out of the chair, unsuccessfully so, and she uses this time to seek safety in another part of the office.
She jumps over a coach and hides there trying to slow her breathing and her heart beat as she hears the officer give up trying to get his sword. She sighs in relief and stands up smiling.
"You have caught me I am Black...The Black, and if you know what I do, and who I am, you know fighting is useless, So, are you ready to submit, James?" she begins to put away the blade but looks over to find the man advancing towards her with, yet another sword.
"seriously? Where the heck are you getting all these swords man?" Black said unsheathing her blade again.
She blocks his attack but he pushes his elbow into her chest knocking the wind out of her. He comes at her again, too fast for her to block, and catches her side. She falls, the cuts not deep enough to get any major organs or arteries, but it still hurt.
She trys to crawl away as the officer wipes his blade, cleaning it, on his shirt. She flips onto her stomach and almost makes it to the door. as she reaches for the door handle theres a hand around her throat. James leans over her and breathes, heavily, into her ear. "Hold on, sweetie, I'm not done with you yet" he drags her back to the middle of the room.
Blacks mind went blank as he tightened his grip. "amazing how much space this room seems to have" The officer says and releases Blacks throat.
Her eyes are specked with red, her throats throbbing, all of her bruises seem to be turning purple at the same time, the edges of her vision are dark, she's fighting to stay conscience, and she's taking deep breaths but still shaking.
"God kid, I gotta hand it to you, You can take a beating" James says laughing a bit. If Black could talk she'd seem more like a sailor than a soldier.
He's taking his time, wiping his sword off again and polishing it. This time Black has a plan, She lunges towards James trying to throw off his balance. He punches her right in the jaw and she drops to the ground like a sack of flour.
"You should've just done it Black, it would've been easier," James said rubbing his red knuckles "the sunsets supposed to be fantastic tonight. It's a shame you'll miss it," He said glancing out the window before bringing his sword above his head.
"I don't plan on missing anything" Black chokes out and kicks James' knee throwing him off balance. she gets on her knees and pushs him down. He falls with a thud but quickly opens his eyes, he tries to get up but she stops him.
She Grabs her blade and sinks it into his chest turning the handle and pushing it farther in for good measure, she gets up and turns away from the man clawing at his chest, desperately trying to stop the waterfall of bleeding. Instead of watching his last moments, she looked out the window at the lowering sun.
"the sunset is fantastic tonight. It's a shame you missed it," the bleeding girl said over her shoulder to the lifeless body. She grabs a jacket from the couch and slips it on over her bloody uniform.
Her hands are covered in blood, both her own and the officers, the rooms a mess and there's blood and weapons everywhere. The officers lifeless body is covered in his own blood, she walked over to the body and grabbed her knife, and after wiping it off on the expensive looking sofa, she walked out.
