Chapter 6

It’s been a few months now nearly Christmas, at least that’s something to look forward to. I haven’t really spoken to Harry because Miss Green decided I was actually good at Shakespeare. We spoke in class but not really at lunch or after school.

We broke up for Christmas vacation and I invited Alisa round to my house. As soon as I walked in I was knocked to the floor with a hug. I couldn’t see who it was all I know is that it was a blond-haired girl. When she sat up and faced me I couldn’t believe my eyes. “Abby?”

My partner in crime was back with me. I had missed her so much. My life felt kind of empty without her.

“Yeah it’s me; Zoe school has sucked without you.” She looked down at my uniform in disgust. You always have to wear something nice otherwise Abby would have a massive hissy fit. “What the hell do you think you are wearing?” She stood me up to examine me properly.

“It’s called a uniform, it’s compulsory.” I said stating the obvious. Trust me I wouldn’t choose these clothes as my first option.

“Whatever, so what’s new with you?” Abby said trying to change the subject. I had totally forgotten about Alisa. She must be feeling really left out.

“I made a new friend.” I pointed over to Alisa.

“Hi, it’s nice to meet you. I’m Abby.” Abby held her hand out for Alisa to shake.

“Hi, my name’s Alisa.”

I walked into the kitchen to find my mother cooking. “You never told me Abby was coming.”

“Do you want me to send her back home?” Mother raised her eyebrow at me.

“No, I just expected you would have told me, is Emma coming down?” I asked getting a bit excited.

“Talk to Abby about it.” I walked into the living room where Alisa and Abby were getting acquainted.

“Abby is Emma coming?” Abby turned around giving me a deathly glare.

“No, don’t say that name in my presence.” I was getting a little bit scared by her tone.

“Why, what happened?”

“Let’s start at the beginning. The first day of school without you. Emma said: ‘Finally she’s gone’ I didn’t think she was talking about you, but it turns out she was. She started acting all strange, saying things like ‘I’m the leader of our group now’ and ‘Zoe was really annoying I’m glad she has gone’.” I felt a bit heartbroken I thought Emma was my friend. Abby continued her story. “She started hanging out with the popular crew and she even said I was a loser when she was around them. Then she’d come to me when they were nasty to her, but go back to them the next day. She told Jake to forget about you and they started dating. Even though we all promised none of us would date him. I became the outcast at school, and when she dumped Jake the popular crew turned their back on him, so he decided to hang around with me. I didn’t like it but it was better than having no friends.”

I could see where she was coming from. Abby looked really hurt, heck I was hurt. To find out that one of your friends didn’t really like you. At least Abby stayed true to me.

“This Emma person sounds like a horrible girl.” Alisa said.

“She was one of my best friends. Shows you can’t really trust anyone.” I shrugged. Then it hit me, I told Emma some of my deepest secrets. I looked over to Abby shocked.

“I know what you’re thinking and I threatened to beat her up if she revealed them.” It’s like me and Abby know what’s going on in each other’s minds.
