Nine Days

MATT POV

It's been nine days. Mike's still in a coma. Florida was supposed to be our next destination but considering Mike's condition and the fact we've all been there in the past, we decided to drive home after Mike wakes up.

Every night I slept on the chairs beside him, hoping he'd wake up next to me. I feel so impatient. I feel bad for the rest of the group. Even though they'd willingly stay and comfort me, I don't want to make them wait this long. I think I'll give them the RV to go home.

The group walked in to check on me.
"You okay?" Emily asked.
"Yeah...." I mumbled. "Guys. Do you guys want to drive the RV home. I'm going to stay behind for Mike."
"Oh. But what about you? How'll you get home?" Sam questions.
"My parents will pick us up."
"Okay. I guess we'll see you around." Jess says.
I hand the keys to Chris and say my goodbyes. Hope they make it back safe.
"I'll update you if anything happens." I inform them.
They walk out the door.

My brain dozed off into another world. I was just staring into space.
"So are we not going with them?" I familiar voice says.
Ho-ly shit.
"Mike?!"
"Yeah. I guess I won't be sleeping anytime soon." Mike laughed.
"Shit! I need to call the group."
I check my phone. Crap I forgot to charge it!
"Mike I'll be right back."
I dash out the door and sprinted through the corridors. There were so many obstacles between me and my friends. I manage to reach the exit. My eyes scan the area. The RV is pulling out of its parking spot. Shit. I need to get to them now.

I ran as fast as I could. The RV was in front of me driving pretty slow. I try to open the door from the side. Damn. Locked. This leaves me no choice. Immediately, I sprint in front of the RV and stand there.

Chris quickly spots me and stamps on the brake. Oh thank god.

One by one, they all walk out with confused looks.

"Matt why did you do that? I could have ran you over!" Chris scolds me.
"Sorry. Just something happened!"
"Must be important." Emily says.
I take a moment to catch my breath.
"Mikes awake!" I say out of breath.
Their faces became filled with joy.
"Holy shit that's amazing!" Sam remarks.
"Guess we should go back in." Josh says.
I nod. Chris parked the RV back into its spot then joined up back with us to see Mike.

We walk through the door. As usual, I see Mike's perfect smile. Boy, am I glad to see that.

MIKE POV

"How long was I out for?" I ask.
"The longest nine days of my life." Matt tells me.
Matt was clinging on to me. I'm pretty sure he would have rather taken the bullet for me. However, if that was the case, I wouldn't be able to live with myself.

After a day or two, the doctors let me leave since I was doing pretty well. I was first on the RV. I made my way to the shower at the back. However I noticed something on the ground.

A dried blood stain.

These guys really don't know how to clean up such a mess despite having over nine days. Guess I'm going to have to be the housekeeper of this RV.

Chris and Matt banned me from driving. Such a shame. They're too worried about me. It kinda caused a small arguement. Obviously, we made up after. I took their side after a while of convincing.  I missed this.
