Riley's POV.
Yellow, black, purple, blue, beige, pink; all the dresses I've tried on since me, Maya and Josh got to the mall. Maya had been going crazy to buy a perfect dress for the sake of Josh. She wanted to look good when she went to the masquerade ball with Josh, her boyfriend.
I, on the other hand, had been dragged out at 9am by Maya, down to the car where Josh was waiting for us. I also wanted to buy the perfect dress; not for the sake of Charlie. But for the sake of myself. I wanted the masquerade ball to be like the one in my dreams. The perfect night, the perfect dress, the dance, everything.
"Riles!"
I spinner around on my spot, seeing Maya running up to me with a bunch of dresses. "Try these on! I'm sure you will find the dress!" Maya gave me the dresses and dragged me inside the dressing room. "Now, I'll be right outside, you try a dress, walk out and show me, okay?"
I nodded, "Yeah, sure." I smiled and closed the dressing curtains.
I looked at the pile of dresses and sighed. "Let's do this," I started trying on dresses and every time I walked outside to show Maya, she would shake her head and tell me to try something else. I tried long ones, short ones, pink ones, black ones, tight ones and loosen ones. Nothing.
"Well this was a waste of ti–" my eyes cached a red dress underneath the pile of dresses and I slowly picked it up. It was a long red dress and when I put it on it was a little tight on the waist with layers all the way down to my feets. I looked at myself in the mirror, admiring myself and the beautiful dress. It looked perfect.
I opened the curtains and walked out, standing in front of a gaping Maya. She was looking at the dress in awe and when she looked up, locking her eyes with mine, she squealed and ran up to me. She hugged me and we started jumping up and down in the spot. "Riles you found it! You found the perfect dress!"
We separated from each other and I smiled widely, "Yeah, I did. And so did you, Maya!"
She gave me a cheeky smile, "Let's go, Josh is waiting and we got less than 4 hours to get ready." She dragged me to the cashier and we paid for our dresses, walking out of the shop to meet Josh. When
I looked around, searching for him. "Where is he?"
Maya nudged my arm, jumping up and down to look through the crowded area. "Over there! I see him, Riles!" She grabbed my arm, dragging me through the crowd until we came to a little coffee shop a few shops away from where we bought the dresses. When we were in front of the shop, I saw Josh buying coffee and talking to the guy behind the counter.
We walked up to him and Maya hugged him from behind. "We are done."
Josh turned around with a small grin, looking at me. "Did you find anything?" He looked down at Maya who was giving him wide, sweet eyes, watching him in awe. He leaned down and gave her a peck on the lips and she smiled even more.
I chuckled, "Yeah, we found the dresses."
"Anything else you girls want to check or should we head home?" Josh picked up the three cups of coffee he had ordered and gave one to me, one to Maya and kept one for himself.
Maya looked at me and I shook my head, "Nope, we're pretty much done here." Maya took a sip from her coffee.
He nodded and we started walking out of the mall, towards the parking lot. As we walked pass one shop for men, my eyes cached a dirty blonde hair. I quickly came to an halt and spinner around to get a better look in the shop. When I looked around the shop a frown was creeping up on my lips. You were just imagining.
