Chapter 9:

The shouts of people from our camp flooded my ears making it unbearable to walk steadily.

I started running ruggedly through the masses of trees until I came to a stuttering stop in front of the camp.

Carson came to a halt beside me as I gaped at the sight before me.

The fire was blazing on in front of me, licking away at the sleeping bags.

The croaks of my burning friends shrouded the air with an unpleasant smell and a horrible feeling.

I watched as I recognized the familiar faces one by one.

One face had my heart melting in seconds. It couldn't be her.

I ran to help her. Her eyes vacantly staring up at the twinkling lights above.

I knelt down, tears blurring my eyesight as I matted out the flames with my jacket.

Her body twitched involuntary and her blonde hair was frayed behind her blackened by the flames.

"Isabelle!" I shouted patting her cheek.

Her jaw opened wide, revealing her fragile teeth as her light eyes started to reflect the flames like mirrors.

"No, no, no, no, no," I said choking out sobs.

It started slowly, first at the tips of her toes and soon at her thighs.

The paralyzing stone cold feeling she gave my hand that rested on her stomach had my arm jerking backwards.

I screamed as her body started vibrating and her teeth chattered rapidly.

"Isabelle!" I screamed and tried to rush towards her but Carson held me back.

"It's done," he whispered solemnly in my ear, "it's over."

Gage's P.O.V:

I watched Jade as her eyebrows twitched slightly.

Her eyes were clenched and then unclenched, making me prop up on my elbows in curiosity.

She let out a small whimper and I so wanted to comfort her until a slight movement stopped me. Elijah was in the same position as me next to Jade.

He held his finger in front of his lips signaling me not to disturb her.

Her breathing became a bit shallow and her hands would clench slightly and her eyebrows knot tightly together.

I tried to read her and see her dream but it seemed deathly impossible.

But that's when she let out screams. Her body started quivering and I rolled over as quick as I could holding her head in my arms as the others got up in a heart beat.

"What's going on?!" Carson asked brimming to the front of the crowd.

"I.. I don't know, I think she's having a bad dream!" I said stuttering with anxiety.

I shook her and patted her cheek until her bright eyes bursted open.

Her breathing became extremely heavy as she gasped for air.

"Are you alright?" Elijah asked, he was right at her side.

"I... I don't know.." she said getting up from my arms and running into the dark wings of the trees.

"I'll go get her," Carson said.

"No, I'm on it," I said nodding at Elijah and I took off in the direction she had ran.

Once I was shadowed under the rug like trees the only thing to guide my path was the luminous glow of the moon and it's stars.

I sensed that she was near and I stopped after I had reached the boundaries.

I saw Dave standing and chanting something with his cloaked friends around a blazing fire.

I heard a small sniff and I immediately knew what it was.

I climbed up the large oak tree that was on my right and started climbing quickly and stealthily.

I found the branch she was on and I sat next to her.

"Are you okay?" I asked her with a worried expression.

I wiped a tear off her cheek and she gave another sniff.

"I guess," she said wiping her eyes.

"What happened?" I asked, trying to ease into the sore subject.

"I was.. I was walking in the woods with Carson, and we heard a scream and so I ran back to camp and my best friend was there. Just how she was before," she said between sobs.

"Isabelle?" I asked mentally kicking myself. I hope she wouldn't catch that.

"Yeah," she said leaning into my shoulder and wrapping her arms around me, she started crying heavier.

Thank God she didn't catch that.

"It's okay Jade," I said, wrapping my arms around her waist.

She sobbed into my shoulder until she lifted her head, our baddies still intertwined.

"Thank you," she said, lifting a hand and wiping off her face.

"For what?" I asked.

She giggled and punched my arm.

"For... Being there for me," she said with a small smile.

Before I could really comprehend what was going on she bit her lip and leaned towards me, putting her hands around my neck and my arms still supporting her waist the kiss was sort of unexpected.

In a perfect way.
