Chapter 4:
A commune. A damn commune. That's where we were going. I met up with Lacey at school and we went into the bathroom.
"I hate Thursdays," she said with genuine dislike in her voice, "they're just Friday wannabes."
I laughed at her statement.
"Are you excited for the full moon?" She asked me.
"I don't think so..." I said, "It kind of scares me.."
We left after that and met up with the rest of the clan. I saw Elijah and smiled at him.
His returned smile quickly disappeared as he met Gage's death stare. I looked away confused like always and watched Saunter and Ellie.
Those two have been in love for who knows how long. They held hands as we strutted down the halls and I turned to face everyone else.
Lacey was clearly liking on Graham and it was completely awkward. He was like the geek of the group, while Lacey was the snot.
This was the class we had to all split up for. Graham And Elijah had Spanish, Lacey, Ellie, and Saunter had French, while Gage and I had Trig.
We bid farewells and Gage opened the door to Trig for me.
We took our regular table seats near two obnoxious boys.
"So..." Gage's chocolate eyes met mine. He was really shy around outsiders but around us he was a loud and obnoxious and the leader around us.
"Hey there," said one of the boys sitting at the table.
"Pipe the f*ck down," I said to him smiling at his reaction and I turned back to Gage as we wrote the notes down.
He was beautiful in many ways. How his golden hair fell to his brow, his features were perfectly defined, his beautiful eyes.
He sort of reminded me of Hercules.. if that even made sense.
"Sunday," he whispered to me. I looked up at him with a confused expression.
"The day we leave. Don't worry, Saunter's brother is already there and he's going to make sure everyone here forgets us."
That hit hard. Forget? What if I wanted my parents to remember me. I felt my heart sting. What would my dad think of this?
I thought of memories with him. He had died 8 years ago. But still, I was never the same again.
My step-dad was terrific and I couldn't ask for one better, but there was an irreplacable hole in my heart yearning for my dad.
But I have to suck it up. I can't play around in serious situations like this.
"Where is the commune?" I asked him.
"Ummmmmmm, far away," he said hesitantly. I shook it off and listened to the teacher explaining the lesson.
This will probably be my last math lesson anyways.
After the bell rung, our clan was reunited. The clock flew by as the school day progressed and soon the school day was over.
As we made our way down the forrest's path the gloomy weather danced upon our alabaster skin. As the path ended, we reached my backyard and I opened and unlocked the sliding glass door.
"Oh Jade, you look like a corpse!" My mother said, her voice trembled slightly. The others padded in beside me.
Elijah shook my mother's hand. "It's good to see you again dear," she said suddenly reassured. I realised he had sent tranquility through her to conquer her growing fears.
"It's good to see you too Miss Prescott," he replied with his pearly white smile.
I led the way up to my room as Saunter and Ellie served as the caboose. "So it's official? We're leaving on Halloween?" I asked, plopping onto my mint bedspread.
I gazed into his eyes. "Yes," he said, his eyes swimming sympathy. I sighed. I was compelled from this situation.
"I know you didn't choose to be a-"
"No I didn't. And sometimes I wish I wasn't!" I yelled. Rage surged through my veins and I immediately knew what was going to happen next.
