Chapter 12:

Jade's P.O.V:

"So that's all?" My mother asked.

"Yes," I replied with a straight face.

"You sure?" she countered.

"Yes mom, I just stayed over at Ellie's house," I replied.

Strangely enough we had only been gone like a day or two, even though it felt much longer in the other realm.

"So are you going to Homecoming?" she asked me.

"I guess, I mean, probably not, I have to go get ready," I said, turning my back and climbing up the stairs.

I heard a few giggles in my room after I shut the door behind me.

"Okay guys you can come out now," I said, rolling my eyes.

They came out one by one, from different nooks and crannies, revealing themselves.

Elijah's hair was ruffled in his face and I couldn't help but remember the numerous times I would push it out of his face.

Gage's curls remained intact, remembering my hands in his golden locks I felt a hot blush flutter through my face.

Lacey had just gotten her hair redone. It was now a white color with purple on the ends. It really looked pretty on her while Ellie's did too.

Ellie had hers a dark auburn with light feathered bangs. And no, we weren't emo, all though we might look goth we really weren't.

I on the other hand looked particularly strange.

I bore dark almost black hair with bright illuminating blue eyes with pale alabaster skin. I couldn't help it.

I remember when I was little I thought I was adopted and I used to press my mom and dad for information.

Speaking of mom and dad, I wonder if my mother knew.

I doubt it, the scenarios seemed to look like accidents and I don't think anyone would have suspected the loving twelve year old daughter.

But weren't they wrong because look where fondness got us.

I wondered who Gage lost, Ellie, Saunter, Elijah. I made a mental note to question them about that later.

"You ready for school?" They asked.

"Yep, ready as I'll ever be," I said, hoisting my bag onto my shoulder.

We marched downstairs and out the back sliding door and into the woods, using the shortcut we pretty much invented.

I hadn't seen Dave in the few hours I'd been back home but I'm sure he was there being a grimy old ass-wipe.

In minutes we were at the school fence and we had minutes to spare so we decided to walk around and take the main entrance.

Bad choice.

It was flooded with people.

We tried to get in only to be separated but I tried to hold it together and manipulate myself through the raging crowd and finally we had made it inside.

"Jesus they're clumped together like one massive giant!" Saunter said and we agreed.

Sometimes I didn't understand high school, other times I didn't care. Either way worked for me.
