Chapter 9

Carter's POV
I have no interest in Sierra.
That's what I keep telling myself, who needs someone who you know will shatter your life, so what's the point?
I walked to a dark alley that is about 15 minutes from Sierra's house.
"You got the money?!"
"I will get it! I promise, look I'll find a job and pay it all back!" I say clenching my jaw.
"2 days. That's all you got, or else you know what's coming."
I sigh.
What have I done?

Sierra's POV
I looked at my timetable, yay! Maths in the morning! What a great fresh start to the day!
Not.
How is x+3= blah blah going to provide knowledge for us to use in our future.
Do teachers even think this through? Obviously not.
I grab my books from my locker and head off to my class.
"Alright answer questions 1-12 on page 28 of your textbooks, and he's this is a group task," the teacher yells.
What are you even yelling for? We are all in the same room as you so I don't see a need for you to raise your voice.
I feel like ranting to Viola about this, but we have seating arrangements so she's all the way across the classroom. So I'm stuck sitting with a quiet girl who's really awkward. She seems nice I guess, but she hardly says anything. Don't get me started on the other three boys on our table who keep laughing at whatever they aren't supposed to be doing.
I just open my laptop to get the textbook open.
*message from Viola*
Viola: why are people so annoying man?!
Me: I'm not annoying :)
Viola: like I'm over here working my ass off on this task, and the boys in my group are Photoshopping eachother's heads on a pig.
Me: I'm currently trying my hardest to not laugh my head off
Viola: you are so much help, teacher is coming!!!! Laterz S!

I close my messages and start to get into my focus mode.
*half way through the lesson*
"So I did the first 5 questions, the least you can do is help me finish the rest." I say to the three boys in my table. The silent girl helped me but hardly spoke.
"Yeah sure later babe."
Did that pig just call me babe? I thought to myself cringing.
"How about you don't babe me and do some work?!" I say firmly.
Three of them look at each other and chuckle.
I roll my eyes and continue working.
*bell rings for period 2*
"YES!" I hear Viola yell, she dragged so much attention that even the teacher frowned at her.
"If you haven't finished your questions, they are for homework. Okay you all get get lost," the teacher says.
I grab my things and head out the door with Viola.

The day finished and I didn't see Carter, I even heard some teachers mentioning his name a couple of times.
It's none of my business where he is, and I know I shouldn't be annoying... But I'm curious.
He just went the opposite direction of me, who knows where he is.
I decided to call him.
"Hello?..." I say nervously.
I don't know why I'm so nervous, but he seemed pissed of this morning and I don't want to get on his nerves.
"Sierra?"
"Yeah it's me, uhm where were you today?" I ask biting my lip.
"None of your business, why don't you focus on your studies and stop worrying about me." He says firmly and hangs up the phone.
I didn't want to think about him, he didn't have to be so rude...
I walk home, great I'm going to walk into a disaster. Mum's car is in the driveway, she should be at work but I know this has to do with my sister.
I slowly open the front door.
"You can't keep doing this! You can't go partying all night and the next day you aren't home because you probably are drunk, and out with some boy!" I hear mum yell.
I was scared to walk any further.
"You don't have a right to tell me to do anything! I'm a teenager okay?! Expect this and deal with it!" My sister yells.
I walk further regretting my decision immediately.
