Poison Kiss:
Chapter 15:
Ashlynn's POV:
"Hey, Hayley!" I called after my retreating friend. "Wait up!" This was not the ideal way to spend a Friday morning. Hayley had been ignoring me, and I still needed to discover why.
Hayley stopped only long enough to throw me a heartbroken look, before continuing on. I looked around in confusion. What had I done to make her so unhappy that she refused to speak to me?
I felt something wet hit my shoulder and glanced down to see a half empty blue slushie. "Slut!" someone yelled, causing a few of the other high schoolers to burst out laughing.
I gazed around at my peers, a hurt expression plastered to my face. What was going on? Why was I being either shunned or bullied by the majority of the school? I wasn't the most popular person on the planet, but I wasn't an outcast either. I was just average Ashlynn.
"I can't believe that you would do that to him!" I heard another voice call out.
"Your best friend too!" someone else jeered.
"What are you talking about?!" I cried to no one in particular.
Sophie stalked up to me, a frown etched in her freckled face. "Stop playing stupid Ash. I honestly thought you were better than this." I turned away from her, shivering at the memory of what she had done to me. "I know that what I did was wrong, but your deed is absolutely unacceptable. Now you have to lie about it?" she took hold of my shoulders and forced me to look at her. "We all know, the least you could do is admit it."
"I don't know what the hell you are talking about!" I growled. With one forceful movement, I reached out and shoved her down. As I turned away from her, I heard a sickening cracking noise, and the group of teenagers that had formed around us suddenly fell silent. I glanced back to see Sophie lying sprawled on the ground, her arm pinned under her slightly chubby frame.
"It really hurts.." she whimpered, trying to move. I watched as a boy took out his phone and began snapping pictures.
My mind filled with only one word: Run. I turned and dashed away from my once friend, shoving through groups of teenagers until I was off of high school grounds.
After spending a moment to catch my breath, I glanced around at my surroundings. I was at the park again. Why was this always my automatic hideaway?
I threw myself onto a bench and pressed the palms of my hands into my eyes. Why did I do that, and better yet, why did I run away? I felt sickened by the very thought of what I had done. I had allowed all of my anger and hatred take over without a second thought, and now someone else had been hurt. I was just like an infection, all of my hatred spilling onto other people. This was not how I had expected my life to go.
I must have fallen asleep to my own pathetic tears, because when I awoke, it was already dark. I checked my phone and saw that I had no text messages or missed calls and sighed. I had hoped that my mother would have noticed my absence.
I sat up and stretched, hearing an unpleasant cracking noise coming from my back. The bench was not the most comfortable place to sleep. My eyes ached from crying, and I already knew that my makeup would be caked on my face. I couldn't go home looking like this, and Hayley wasn't talking to me, so I only had one option.
Vincent's POV:
I had just settled down in the kitchen after putting Raven to bed. She had been incredibly fussy all day, and I had just gotten her to sleep. I had no idea that being a young parent could be so hard. I had been struggling a lot lately. I knew that I needed to get a job or I would no longer be able to take care of my little girl. I had been looking around lately, no luck so far. Not many people wanted to hire a nineteen year old who had dropped out of high school and was raising a baby, it screamed irresponsibility.
