Poison Kiss

Chapter 2:

Ashlynn's POV:

Beep! Beep! Beep!

I groaned and slowly opened my eyes. Seven thirty. I shut off the alarm clock and yawned as Sadie stepped into my room.

"I thought I reminded you to turn that thing off on the weekends!" she scolded.

I shrugged my shoulders and stretched. "Sorry." I mumbled sleepily.

She put her hands on her hips and frowned. "Well I was going to hang out with Simon today anyway!"

"So your boyfriend?" I asked mischievously.

She gave me a pouty look. "He's not my boyfriend!"

I smirked. "Not yet, anyway..." I muttered.

She glared at me and stalked out of the room. I got up and walked a circle around my room. What to do today?

My phone vibrated, alerting me of a text message and I scurried over to check it.

Hayley: Want to hang out at my place today?

Ashlynn: Sure. Be right over.

Of course Hayley knew that in girl language, be right over meant, give me an hour, at least.

I walked over to my closet and brought out a pair of grey skinny jeans and a black tee-shirt, laying them gently on my bed. Then, I turned and walked into the bathroom. I caught a glimpse of myself in the mirror and gasped. My hair was a big tangled mess, and most of my makeup was smeared around my eyes in huge black circles. I frowned and took a step back. Why couldn't the mirror lie once in a while?

I stepped back and slipped out of my dress, climbing into the shower. The hot water sprayed against my skin and I sighed at it's warmth, shutting my eyes and letting it wash over me.

Fifteen minutes later, I got out of the shower. My hair smelled pleasantly of strawberries and cherry blossoms. I quickly blow dried my hair and ran a brush through it until it was silky and smooth. After applying a thin line of eyeliner, I hurried out of the bathroom and dressed.

I was adjusting my shirt a bit when my phone vibrated. I picked it up and checked my text messages.

Brian: Good morning beautiful! Had a lovely date last night!

Ashlynn: I'm glad. So how's your friend?

Brian: What friend?

Ashlynn: The drunken one you left to pick up last night.

Brian: Oh, yeah. Him. He's fine. I gotta go. My mom's calling me. Love you!! Bye.

Ashlynn: Bye

I frowned. He was certainly acting suspicious. I shrugged. Whatever. I wouldn't let it ruin my awesome day with Hayley. I grabbed my purse and headed out the the door, walking in the direction of Hayley's house.

Ten minutes later, I was sitting on Hayley's bed, munching on chips and gossiping about the latest school drama.

Hayley rolled over and mischivieously wiggled her eyebrows at me. "So how was your date last night? You never texted me back."

I frowned. "Sorry about that. I didn't get in until late." I shrugged. "It was fine. We went down to the lake and just kind of watched the sunset."

"Aww.." Hayley gushed. "You guys are so cute together."

I halfheartedly smiled. "Yeah, I guess so."

She gently shoved me. "You don't know what you're talking about. You just don't know a good thing when you see one."
