Poison Kiss
Chapter 5:
Sadie's POV:
I lay in my bed amidst an assortment of stuffed animals and pillows, waiting for him to call. He said he'd call when I was supposed to meet him. My mom had fallen asleep hours ago. It was midnight now. Why couldn't he hurry up.
My phone vibrated and I answered it immediately. "Hello?"
"Yeah, it's time. Come outside." he replied.
I jumped up and threw on my jacket, making my way to the open window. Simon stood at the base of the oak tree waving for me to come down. I slipped out the window and climbed down the tree as fast as I could.
As soon as my feet touched the ground, he wrapped his arms around me and buried his face in my hair. "Hey.." he whispered.
I smiled. "Hey yourself."
He stepped back and took my hand. "We better get going. I'll have to have you back here by three or four. We have school tomorrow."
I nodded and we began walking, falling into a comfortable silence. In about twenty minutes, we had reached our secret hideout.
The treehouse stood in the center of a small meadow, almost forgotten by the world. It's paint had long since chipped away, and moss and age had begun to creep up on it. Our meadow was secret due to the forest that surrounded it.
There were myths and legends about how it was haunted and cursed. We had been hanging out here for as long as I could remember. There was no danger or ghosts. Sometimes people could be really dumb.
I climbed up the rickety ladder and motioned for him to follow. The treehouse's interior looked like it always did. A small blanket spread out on the floor, some books in a corner, a few candles, and a lighter.
We curled up together on the blanket. It was funny. We had been dating for three years, yet everyone thought that we were just friends.
Simon kissed my forehead gently. "I'm happy you could come out here tonight."
I nodded. "Me too. The last time, my mom didn't fall asleep for most of the night."
He grinned and pointed out the window. "Do you see all those stars?" he asked.
"Yeah."
He looked into my eyes. "I love you more than the amount of stars in the sky right now."
I grinned. "I love you too."

Vincent's POV:
I had been moved in for about two days and I already hated it. This place was in serious need up some upkeep. Unfortunately, I was the only one here to do it.
Raven made my life bearable and awful all at the same time. She was lucky that she was cute. I never knew that babies could be so loud and obnoxious.
I heard some more crying noises coming from the nursery. Feeding time again, I guess. Oh, did I mention that she's insatiable?
I sighed and began preparing her bottle. Nothing like a hungry baby to bring out the best in me. Note the sarcasm.
By the time the milk was warm enough, she had stopped crying. False alarm. I placed the bottle into the fridge and sank into a chair.
Keagan, why did you do this to me? I silently asked. She knew that I couldn't handle this alone. It was killing me. I glared at the nursery door. Almost as if she sensed my gaze, Raven began crying again. I groaned and picked up the now cold milk and headed in to feed her.
