I walk down the hallway, bumping into kids as they rush to their Lockers for the first period. I reach mine and tiredly shove my books into the tiny compartment. Giggling floats down the hallway like a balloon. Oh goody, Ceronica and Leanne lean againt my locker
"what happened to you scar-face?" Leanne giggled.
I scowled at the inside of my locker
"no wonder why all the guys never talk to you, look at your face, only one a mother could love, oh right shes dead!"
I run my hands lightly over the four thick marks on my cheeks, my gut shrivelling up at the thought of my mother. Leanne laughs hysterically before walking off.
"My god shes such a bitch, you alright Sam?" A smooth voice croons behind me.
I turn around slowly and gaze at Chase Bermington, my only friend in this demented place.
"yeah Leanne gets on my nerves a lot"
"I can see, what happened?"
I rack my brain for an answer, If I tell him the truth he'll probably have me locked in the basement instantly. But I Don't want to have to lie to him.
"Just a hunting accident" I lie.
Really? Out of all the answers in the world, a hunting accident? Never once have I had a hunting accident. He looks at me skeptically,
"Alright then, see you tonight"
I nod as he walks away.

The rest of the day was spent walking around with my hoody over my head and people staring. One kid yelled something about being an animal and got a middle finger in return. Every minute was painful, only the last seconds of the day was the best part. I gathered my textbooks from my last class and bolted to the bus shelter, slipping my sunglasses on as I walked. The bus stop was even worse. More kids, more staring.
"Need a ride?"
A black Nightrider pulls up in front of me. Reluctantly I get on, slipping on the helmet he held out.
"Thanks Chase" I mumble.
"No problem"
an awkward silence as the wind whipped my hair back. A few short minutes later we were walking up to my house. Thats when I saw it.
