I wake up in the forest next to the lake, it would've been about midnight or later judging from the sky. As I sit up my reflection shows in the lakes unbroken surface, except I'm not quite me. Instead of my eyes being the multi colours they usually are, they were an unnatural electric blue. My teeth had elongated into sharp points and my ears were longer and covered in a soft white fuzz. My nails had grown into points as well. My body ached, as if I had been hit with a semi trailer.
"Sam wake up!"
The voice echoed around me like i was in a cave,
"Sam its all right, your okay"
I looked around puzzled, and thats when I saw him. The most amazing guy I've ever seen, his bright pea-green eyes sparkled like emeralds in the moonlight, his bright pearly teeth were straight and perfect. He said something to me
"Wake up Sam"
Then I remembered everything that happened. Images of skin-torn faces, bloodied bodies lying in piles, even one young girl with her throat slit, her face has a cross carved into it, her eyeballs gone and a massive hole in her face.
I sit up gasping for air, my entire body shaking from the previous images. Chase bent over me scribbling in a notebook
"Sam! Thank god your awake! You scared the shit out of me!"
I was out of it, dizzy and confused.
"I came in here to find you jerking and screaming you must've had an nightmare"
I looked up dazed and the first thing I noticed was how perfect his teeth were. Straight and pearly white,
"Sam, are you alright?"
I nod rapidly.
"You didn't leave."
now it was His turn to look puzzled.
"Yeah Its only 6:00 Sam."
I nod slowly. Chase looks at me skeptically
"What was in your dream?" He asks.
I chew on my bottom lip. I'm not going to tell him, how can I tell him?
"Oh nothing much"
"Sam"
he draws out my name.
"I don't know okay! Its too confusing for me to explain!"
"Its okay Sam! I just wanted to know if you could tell me"
My mouth dries up, he's trying to be a good friend and I'm yelling at him. Geez, what a great friend I'm being.
"I'm sorry Chase, If you want you can sleep in the guest room for tonight"
the corners of his mouth tug up into a slight smile,
"Okay, I just don't want anything to happen to you"
I lean my head on his shoulder.
"I'm as tough as steel, nothing will happen to me."
Little did I realise that I was oh so very Wrong.
