I took caution in the forest and around the house, keeping my Uncles scent straight. He's not my Uncle after what he did to me and threatening my pack. I've disowned him. I can hear Wilbur's laboured breathing as he waits in a ditch he dug out, stupid man. As I walked into the local Red Rooster I asked for 20 uncooked chicken breasts explaining that I had a family of 15 to feed, and the butcher was shut. They looked at me skeptically but when I handed over $200 they were happy to complete my order. I glanced around and saw Leanne at a table a couple of meters away. She hadn't seen me. Yet. As soon as I got the three bags I opened one and threw a chicken boob at her. It landed on her head, spraying juice all over her. She got up fuming, saw me and sat back down again. I headed back off to the 'den', as Alex made me call it. I couldn't hear Wilbur's breathing or pick up his scent from the waterfall. He was gone. I walked into a tense room,Everyone was waiting for me. Chase had calmed down but He was still sending out an I'm-still-pissed-off kinda vibe. I gave the three bags to Alex, he took them and handed them out. I plopped down next to Chase, we all ate in silence.
"All right whats the matter?"
I stand up frustrated. The silence is killing me.
"Well, while you were gone, we...Um-"
Alex looked as though he'd eaten a lemon. Bandit sighed.
"We all think that you should be.... Alpha"
my jaw dropped.
"Alpha? Why?" I asked suspiciously.
"You look after the pack, risked your life to save us. Heck even got a criminal record for us"
I glared at him when he said Criminal.
"Sorry Sorry"
He sat down. Alex stood up
"So you're now Alpha" he grins.
"I don't know anything about being an Alpha"
"I'll help you, don't worry" Alex reassured me.
I glanced over at Chase who was still eating quietly.
"And where do you stand with all of this Mr. Grumpy Pants?" He scowls at me but automatically Smiles at being called Grumpy Pants.
"I'll help you" he says Standing up. "But no more risking your life"
I grin.
"Isn't that why I'm Alpha?" He shrugs,
"Just no more."
The pack slowly make their way to a back room which I didn't know about to sleep. The walls lined with wolfsbane.
"Okay so what are we going to do about Wilbur?"
"Whiskey." Alex Corrected. "We were thinking about killing him"
I was about to reply when Scarlet bursts through the door.
"He's got friends Alex! Army friends. At least fifty of them with guns, rifles!"
She doubled over.
"Sam's Alpha now" he says simply.
She looked very confused.
"Fifty? Are you sure?" I ask,
her eyes widen
"Where do you think I've been the past four days? Spying thats where!"
"We have what? Eight wolves and they have fifty military guys with guns. What are we gonna do?"
I pace the room. Chase picks up a pen and a note book. He scribbles something and hands it to Scarlet.
"Take this to Chris and the others" he says.
"Chris? Are you sure? Thats dangerous you know,"
he nods. She sucks in a breath of air and disappears again.
"What did you do? Who's Chris? What did you write?"
He looks at me like I have three heads, that mixed with amusement. It was very annoying.
"Brace yourself Sam." He says grinning slyly. "I've just called in the other packs"
