"Thanks, Scott, but I don't see things that way." She smiled and walked away.

"Wait, what?" I said hoping that she was joking. Ella is a friend to me, but I secretly want to be more than friends.
"Scott, I'm kidding...does that mean you like me?" Ella said with a smile on her face. I instantly felt SO relieved. I needed to come up with a clever answer...so I did.
"Of course I like you, otherwise we wouldn't be friends ;)" I winked at her.
"Ok then...well let's leave it at that for now." She smiled at me.
Well that was awkward...luckily Mrs Carcavella walked in before things got too weird.
"Alright everyone, it is now time for registration."
Everyone went back to their seats and she started calling out the register. When Ella spoke, I blushed at her cute American accent. I didn't really hear it until now. I haven't heard a voice so beautiful in a while. We looked at each other for a while, but someone entered the room, interrupting our moment.
"No flipping way." I said to myself, "How did he find us?"
Anthony stormed in, with an angry face.
"ELLA NORA YOU ARE COMING HOME NOW." He shouted.
"Excuse me Mr. Padilla, what is the cause of this? Please do not shout like that, this is a classroom, not a zoo." Mrs Carcavella said. He gave her a look that could kill and she kept quiet and looked away.
I was so confused. I thought Ella said that he was her boyfriend, not her father...
But I kept quiet.
He walked over to me.
"And you," he pointed at me, "Stay the HELL AWAY FROM MY GIRL!"
I wasn't sure if this was right, watching Ella being forced to leave by her "boyfriend".
But I stayed quiet.
And I regretted it.
The next time I saw Ella...
...was in hospital.
