The Cries

Chapter twelve

They were high up in the sky Gemma turned around to see how James was going, he had sweat pouring down his face and he was clenching the chair for dear life. He had always been afraid of heights, ever since they first went on a plane. Gemma looked out the window at the ocean, she was safe now. She hadn’t felt so happy for a long time “alright everyone we are nearly there” John smiled, she didn’t like him there was just something about his greasy black hair that sent shivers down her spine. She got up and walked to the exit where everyone was lining up. She watched as jazz was trying to get James out of his seat, she held his hand firmly and eventually he got up.

Gemma was blinded by the brightness of the sun, as her environment became clearer she realised they were in a park with cabin’s all around the edges “here is where you will be staying until we can find you home” John said brushing his greasy hair out of his eyes, Gemma looked around and noticed that everyone was walking over to one of the cabins. As she walked in she noticed fresh clothes on each bed, she looked around. The walls were made of logs and then around the corner was a small bathroom “this can be your bed Gemma” Said jazz smiling pointing at a neat bed, she looked at the clothes they were just a plain white shirt and pants.

It felt great to have a shower again, the hot water felt so nice “Gemma hurry up!” Ruben shouted from outside “sorry” She quickly stepped out and put on her new clothes. When she opened the door there were about three people standing there waiting, Ruben was just about to step in when Brook smiled and pushed Ruben to the side “ladies first” She said, Ruben sighed then stepped back so she could get in. Gemma walked out and sat onto her bed, it was so comfy. Then she looked up and noticed that on the roof above every bed was ‘Fresh’ and under neath them was a number hers was sixteen, I wonder what that is used for? She thought.

 Adrian walked up to Sasha and sat next to her on the end of the bed “so what do you think about all this?” He said grinning “I don’t like it! It just doesn’t feel right” She said frowning, Adrian was amazed he thought she would be really happy with what was happening “What do you mean?” He asked confused “well, we were stuck in Australia under Quarantine, then suddenly a helicopter came down and landed right out front of the zoo and just happened to want to save us. Doesn’t that seem odd to you?” Sasha said looking at him, he thought about that. It was kind of weird how a helicopter just came to save them, why would they want a bunch of teens? Adrian didn’t know what to do “anyway sorry, don’t worry about it” Sasha said and then she flopped back and just lay there on the bed “Its okay, im sure we will be fine” Adrian said holding her hand.

Adrian woke up, Sasha wasn’t there she must have gone outside. He got up and placed his feet on the cold floor. It was freezing! He quickly jumped across the icy cold floor and put on his jumper. He turned around and saw Sasha at the door “oi get over here I wana show you something!” She whispered urgently, Adrian followed her through the camp until they came to a shed. She easy jumped up, he tried but of coarse wasn’t as good at climbing “actually stay here I will open the door” Sasha said then disappeared. He waited for a long time until finally the door creaked open and out popped Sasha’s head, she smiled and then disappeared once more. Adrian walked into the dark room he walked up to the wall switched the lights on, at first he thought they didn’t work but then they began to flicker and the whole room was light. Then he saw what Sasha was pointing at, there was a small tube in the ground with blood stains around the outside. He walked up and looked in to find it full of metal shards pointing up “do you believe me now?” Sasha said, Adrian walked up closer and realised how bad it smelt “a human couldn’t fit in there its too small!” Adrian said standing back so he could get away from the stench. Adrian didn’t know what it was used for, but he hoped it was used for cutting meat “ lets get out of here before we get caught” He said turning around “or killed” Sasha mumbled.

Gemma walked around in the wet grass, she always thought Tasmania was hot not cold but times have change and I guess the worlds gone crazy so nothing used to be how it was anymore. She walked into the small forest by a lake, she wanted to be alone without worrying about Mutes and now was the perfect chance. She looked at a small bird perched on one of the trees, it was a weird bird she had never seen anything like it. Then she looked at it eyes, it was a camera! They were watching her who ever they were! But why? Why would they need to watch everyone here? “Gemma” Something whispered into her ear “hello?” She called out into the trees “you have to get out! They will kill you!” The voice whispered again “who is this?” Gemma said getting agitated “They will kill you for it!” The voice felt like it was right next to her but there was no one there “who will kill me?! And for what?!” She yelled, then she felt it! The small, soft, warm hand touched her on her shoulder again. It was in the exact same spot as last time! She turned around and nothing was there “hello?” She said nervously, she looked behind the trees but nothing was there. She turned around and ran as fast as she could go. Then she saw Sasha and Adrian up ahead “Gemma! What’s wrong?” Sasha said frowning “The voice. It said, kill me for something!” She tried getting out between breaths “wait what?”Adrian said confused, Gemma took a deep breath and tried again “the voice it said that they will kill us, for something” Gemma said shivering “umm what voice?” Adrian said looking at her like she was an idiot “just don’t worry about it” Gemma said walking off, she was annoyed that they didn’t understand her. She rubbed her eyes, she felt really tired she hadn’t slept well the other night. She walked up to the small cabin and jumped on to her bed, she wondered how long they will be her. Maybe they will never get out of this place, she didn’t know what was going to happen but right now the only thing she wanted to worry about now was getting some sleep.

Gemma’s back hurt, she felt around her and immediately realised she wasn’t in her bed. She slowly opened her eyes and looked around, she was in a long dark hallway with millions of door’s along the side. The wood on the floor was damp and smelt bad. She got up onto her feet and looked around “hello?” She called out down the hallway but there was no response. She walked up to the first door and pushed It open, when she peeked inside she noticed a girl with long blonde hair sitting in a small arm chair with her back to Gemma. She walked up next to the girl and looked at her “Do you know where I am?” Gemma asked the girl, she had very pale skin and pink eyes she could almost pass as an albino. The girl looked at her and put her hand on Gemma’s shoulder, the hand felt familiar it was small and warm, Then Gemma realised it was just like the on from the forest! “You have to run before they get you!” She whispered, Gemma stepped back as the girl stood up and began walking towards her. She quickly turned around and ran to the door but tripped on a loose floor board. Then she turned around and saw the girl standing over her with blood slowly flowing from her mouth “No please!” she whimpered, the girl smirked “You have to run before they get you!” The girl whispered once more.

Gemma woke up gasping for breath, that dream had felt so real! She felt up her arm and noticed all the goose bumps running up her arm “nightmare?” A voice said from across the room, Gemma looked up and saw Lizzy rubbing her eyes “yeah” Gemma said realising that her left hand was still in a fist, Lizzy came over and sat next to her “I hate nightmare’s” Lizzy said grumpily “yeah same, what was yours about?” Gemma asked half asleep “it was really weird! I was in a hallway and there were tons of door’s and anyway there was this chick that had blood coming out of her mouth” Lizzy said yawning, Gemma only just registered what she had said and realised that they had the same dream “REALLY?! I had the exact same dream!” Gemma said with her heart drumming in her chest “wait have you ever had the hand touch you?” Lizzy said surprised “YES! And the voice?” Gemma said with her mouth wide open “We have to leave this place!” Lizzy said with a wild look in her eyes, Gemma nodded then ran around waking everyone up.
