Chapter Fourteen

Jake hadn’t been doing much after Ethan’s death he just kind of followed along with everyone else and never said anything, Ethan was a really cool guy. Imagine how Gemma would feel about his death though! Jake looked up and saw Gemma laughing with Brook, she was really pretty but he couldn’t like someone again. Mind you they are in Tasmania. Yes they are still on the run but its not like there are Mutes lurking around them.

He wondered why they were on the run from; he knew that the people there were going to kill him but what for? Why would they kill all these innocent kids?

He felt his soft black shorts; he could remember putting them on before soccer, or before his mum tried to kill him anyway and then he remembered that he had his nano iPod still in there! He pulled it out and started listening to all his favourite artists, which helped him forget what the world had turned into.

Suddenly everyone stopped. What was going on up there? He walked up to the front to find anther group of kids holding knifes at Gemma and Brook who were at the front.

“Why are you here?!” a girl said with a hood over her face, infact they all had hoods covering their faces. One of them stepped forward in front of the girl and hushed her whilst taking off his hood and revealing his face “what do you want?” he hissed at them, but like he literally hissed at them like a snake “umm we were just passing through…” Gemma confessed “jussst passsing through aye” The boy hissed again but with an almost evil smile on his face “come” He ordered.

Jake was walking in the middle of the group next to a girl who had also taken her hood off, she was very hard looking but almost beautiful at the same time “so what’s up with your leader” He whispered to her, she smiled “his names Amaz he thinks he’s some kind of snake, I don’t know why I didn’t know him before the red plague” She said putting her knife in her pocket instead of holding it at them “red plague?” Jake asked, “The virus, around five of us came here and found he had built a good place to live and survive” She said, “wait, so you don’t know anything about Amaz?” Jake said “nope, the only person who know’s about him before the red plague is Wick” she confessed “I’m Alic” She said “Jake” He Replied.

Everyone here had the weirdest names! They were almost like a tribe, except with a snake as their leader? They all sat down as Amaz stood up on a small stage made out logs “everyone we have sssome outsssidersss” Amaz said loudly “now that they know about usss, we should decide what to do with them” Everyone from their tribe burst into conversation yelling stuff at Amaz who stood there calmly “we should kill them” Someone yelled out “we should gut them” Someone else yelled out “let them learn our ways!” Alic jumped up and yelled, which made everyone go silent “ssstand up aye? How dare you ssstand up in a meeting, and then YELL THAT THEY CAN LEARN OUR WAYS!” Amaz Shouted, “I was just, I mean I want them to learn about our culture. We need more people Amaz!” Alic said “hmmm okay let the outsssidersss learn our waysss” Amaz concluded them walked into a small bamboo hut behind him.

Alene didn’t like these dumb asses! They creeped her out, there was one boy who had long hair dangling from his belt. But what were they going to do? They were stuck here with these; well she couldn’t really call them humans because they weren’t. They were more like animals, infested animals that would stab your back in your sleep.

“Follow me outsiders!” A tribe member said at the front.
