After the group finished their lunch, Kaya offered to take Lizzie shopping before the trip and Lizzie agreed, saying she would meet up with Thomas at the house. Kaya took her to the mall, where Lizzie had spent many afternoons but had never done anything other than look around and buy coffee.
"Okay, first we get the essentials, then we get the luggage bags," Kaya instructed.
"I have a bag that I can use," Lizzie said, thinking of the old purse that she took on trips.
"A bag? Don't you have a suitcase, a bathroom bag or a make-up bag?" Lizzie slowly shook her head "Well, in any case, I'm buying and it's time someone spent money on you," Lizzie wanted to protest, say she was fine with what she had, but the bright smile on Kaya's face just made her thankful.
Kaya had picked out pretty much everything for Lizzie, making sure all of it matched grey and yellow. Lizzie always felt she had good tastes, but she never had the budget to prove it. Kaya and Lizzie had battled against what colors they should get, Lizzie saying all neutral colors were fine, but Kaya had said that bright colors bring out Lizzie's eyes with a shine, so they decided grey and yellow. Lizzie had never really thought of herself as someone that people would look at and like what they saw, but the way that Kaya looked at her and picked out everything she never knew she liked. Being with Thomas was great, soothing and calm; but Kaya was exciting and new and gave her this feeling like she mattered. She gave her a sense of adventure.
"I think that's all," Kaya said looking in the buggy at all the grey and yellow items, "We'll save the clothes for when we get to New York, so shall we get some luggage?" She asked, offering her hand to Lizzie, which she took.

Lizzie closed the car door after saying her goodbyes to Kaya and walked up the steps to Thomas's house. Lizzie's hands were shaking as she tried to unlock the door. She didn't know why she was nervous, she had done nothing wrong, but her guilt grew into a pit in her stomach when she saw Thomas on the couch with Louis.
"Hey, love. How was shopping?" He looked up at her and smiled, she hoped what she gave back resembled a smile.
"Good, it was good. I have everything I need for New York," She said excitedly "I cannot believe you're taking me to New York City."
"Of course I am, I can't stand leaving you here while I'm gone; and you're going to love it. The lights shine almost as bright as you," He leaned to give her a kiss, but she turned her head, making him kiss her cheek. "I'm going to be at interviews most of the time but the hotel is in the middle of the city, so you can walk to wherever you'd like," Lizzie beamed up at him, making him chuckle.
"Wait, are we going to be flying there? Like in an airplane?"
"Well, yeah. It would be like a three day drive there. Have you never flown before?" Lizzie shook her head with a horrified look on her face. "It will be fine, doll. I've flown plenty times and had no problems, plus it will be a short flight. I won't let anything happen to you,"
"Promise?"
"I promise, Lizzie," He kissed her forehead and played the T.V as she cuddled into him.
