Fiera
"What?!" I exclaim incredulously. Malea goes quiet, and if I could see behind me, I would see a grim Shontelle.
"You heard me, loser! I'm saying that Ryan's playing you and that you should back off." Michelle barked, her crony, J.C., behind her.
I feel my anger start to rise. "And why would you be so concerned about my welfare all of a sudden?"
"I'm not." Michelle replies snootily.
Grinding my teeth, I try not to yell at her. "Exactly! You just want Ryan for yourself and you think can persuade me so."
Let me rewind. It's been a couple weeks since I started dating Ryan, as well as Malea having moved in and Shontelle's surprising asking of friendship. Every single day since then, all I've received from Michelle and J.C. is glares and snide remarks full of loathing and hate. Especially when I'd hang around Ryan, which has been any time I have some free time away from school, family, and friends. Unfortunately, today Shontelle and J.C. decided they were going to say something about it and the only place we see each other is in school.
Shontelle glowers at me, but abruptly smiles sinisterly, causing warning bells to ring in my head. "Just you wait Cloak. He's going to rip your little, feeble heart apart, making you wish you had listened to me, and when that happens, I'll be there to laugh at you. Then he'll be all mine, and I'll tell you 'I told you so' because... well... I told you so."
With a smug smirk on her face, she flips her bleached blond hair and walks away. J.C. gives me a mirroring smug-like look and follows Michelle on her merry little way. I shoot daggers into the back of their heads and try to restrain myself, with all my might, to not follow her and knock her one. Thinking I didn't want to be suspended, I turn around to question Shontelle.
"So, what's your take on all of this? Do you believe her?" I say incredulously.
Shontelle rolls her eyes. "I'm not for sure. It's hard to tell with Michelle. When she wants something, she'll lie through her teeth to get it, but she seemed extremely confident and passionate about her comment. I don't really know Ryan personally, but he always seemed ok to me."
I calm down a little. The scary face I'd been making slowly starts to fade. "I should just take it with a grain of salt. Ryan has been nothing but nice to me so far, and if I let someone like her get in my head, I could ruin the great relationship I have with him now."
Malea gives me a small smile of agreeance. "I can't really tell you otherwise. I don't really know him, either. " Malea pauses for a second and then adds. "Just be careful, k? J-just in case."
"I will." I nod my head. Taking that as the discussion was over, I turn over to my locker and start to open it in thought.
A flash back to our first date comes to mind:
"Hey Ryan?"
"Hmmm, wussup?" He asks, looking up from his watch.
"Do you still have feelings for Astrid?" I bluntly ask. Stupid! You can't just blatantly ask that. "I'm sorry! I shouldn't have asked that."
Ryan's eyes widen for a second, like I caught him off guard. Many emotions flash over his face. I think I catch hints of sadness, anger, and was that annoyance? Nice going Fiera. "I'm sorry! I sh-shouldn't have asked. It was unnecessary-"
