Two hours later, I'm lying in my bed, on my laptop looking for a way to get Emmet back. After Connor woke up, he had healed me and he, Lexi, and I had come back here. Brett said that he would work on tracking Alex down while we got some rest. Somehow, I don't think that is possible for me right now. Connor had decided to stay here to make sure I'm okay, so he's sleeping on the couch. I hear somebody knock on my door.

"Amy?" Connor says softly. "Don't you think that you should be getting some sleep?"

"Please Connor." I say, my voice trembling. "Just go away."

"You can't do this to yourself." He sits on the edge of my bed. "You should be getting some rest."

"I'm not tired."

"Do you really think Emmett would want you to do this to yourself?" I glare at him.

"Don't do that." He looks at me in confusion. "Don't act like he's already dead." His face softens.

"I know he's not dead."

"How do you know that?" I mumble.

"He wouldn't be able to leave you." At this, I break down.

"It's all my fault!" I sob. Connor starts to protest, but I continue. "It was my plan. I wanted to stop Alex like this. I thought I would be the one getting hurt, but you almost died, and Emmett got taken!" Connor hugs me and starts rubbing my back, trying to calm me down.

"This isn't your fault. Nobody could have known that this would happen."

"Emmett could die."

"It's gonna be okay." he says.

"You don't know that." He doesn't reply, but keeps hugging me until I'm finally calmed down.

"How about you get some sleep, okay?" he says gently. "Then, tomorrow, we'll look for a way to find Emmett. He'll be okay, I promise." I nod my head shakily, and he hugs me again.

"Thank you." I whisper.

"Like I said, it's part of the whole brother thing." I smile, and he leaves. I decide to listen to what he said and attempt to fall asleep. After an hour of trying, I realize that it isn't working. I quietly walk to the bathroom, careful not to wake Connor, who is currently snoring on the couch, up. I open the medicine cabinet and pull out a bottle of sleeping pills that was prescribed to me years ago, right after I ended things with Alex. It was to help me with nightmares. I take two pills, and then walk back to my room. I'm asleep within a half hour.

The next day, I wake up and look at the clock. It says 11:30. Shit. I quickly get up and run out of my room. Lexi and Connor are sitting on the couch talking.

"Why did you let me sleep that late?!" I exclaim. "That's time I could have been using to find Emmett!"

"You needed your sleep." Lexi replies. "What good are you to Emmett if you pass out from exhaustion?" I sigh, because she's right. "How are you doing?" Lexi asks.

"I'm fine."

"I know you well enough to know that that's bullshit." She says, getting up and hugging me. "But I know you don't want to talk about it, so I won't push you to." I smile, grateful for such a great best friend. I walk over to the kitchen to check my phone, which is sitting on the counter. I have a missed call from Brett. I call Brett back and he picks up after the second ring.

"Amy." He answers. "You guys might want to come over. I think I know where Emmett is."

Ten minutes later, we're at Emmett and Brett's apartment, looking at Brett's laptop screen. I'm looking at what seems to be a building's floor plan, still in my pajamas.

"I don't understand." I say, confused. "What is this?"

"This is where I think Emmett is being kept." Brett answers. "But it has some pretty heavy security."

"Dammit."

"I'm offended Amy." Brett puts his hand on his chest dramatically. "You seem to underestimate my skills."

"So you think you can get us in?" I ask, excited.

"I know I can get you guys in." He tells us about the types of security on the building and the ways he'll get us past it.

"Do you really think this will work?" Connor asks when he's done.

"I think," Brett answers. "that if this works, we can have Emmett back by the end of today."
