Forget (A Maze Runner/Newt Fanfiction)

1-Injury

A/N: This is before Newt had a limp.

Ky's POV:

I gulp and continue sprinting, trying to get away from the Griever. Newt runs beside me, constantly glancing at me to check and make sure I'm okay. My lungs burn for air and despite the ringing in my ears I can hear Newt panting beside me.

We turn the corner and I trip on my own foot. My elbow smacks into the hard concrete of the maze wall. I yelp as pain shoots up my arm. My vision goes black for a moment and I stumble. Right before I hit the ground, Newt catches me and pulls me up.

"I think your elbow is broken, love", Newt says quietly, standing with me in his arms.

I groan as he continues running, carrying me bridal style. Everything below my elbow is numb, but my actual elbow is screaming in pain. Newt jumps over a rock and I clench my jaw as it jarrs my elbow and sends another wave of pain through my arm.

"We're almost there", Newt says comfortingly.

As we near the doors to the Glade, I hear Newt screaming for the Med-jacks.

"Med-jacks! Med-jacks!" He shouts as we step over the threshold. "Ky is hurt! She needs medical attention!"

Newt gently lays me on the ground.

"It'll be okay Ky", he says. "Jeff and Clint are coming."

I smile at him, but it's actually more of a grimace. "Have I ever told you that I love your accent?" I ask Newt. He smiles.

"No. But I kind of figured. The ladies love my Britishness", he teases.

"How d'you know? I'm the only one!" I say, teasing back.

Suddenly, another wave of pain blocks out everything else. I squeeze my eyes shut, and squeeze Newt's hand with my good one.

"Newt!" I gasp.

"Ky, it's gonna be okay," Newt says. "Clint and Jeff are here. They're gonna take care of you. I'll make sure of it."

I cry out again as Clint and Jeff hoist me up by my arms and legs. Newt leans down, closer to my face. "I love you" , he whispers. He kisses my lips. Then, I wail in agony as another burst of pain shoots through my body.

Pass out, I beg.

My body obeys.
