Chapter 12

Dacey's POV

"Your going to be working with the person who sits beside you" he announced.

I looked over to Niall and at the same time he looked at me. A nervous smile that looked forced was spread across his lips. I weakly smiled back. This will definitely be interesting.

"So umm.. Do you want to come to my house this weekend to work on the project?" Niall asked as we walked out of the class room as he awkwardly scratched the back of his neck waiting for my reply.

"Uh sure. That will work." I answered and then started to walk a way leaving him standing there alone. I know I said I would be friends with him again and I want to. It just doesn't go back to how it was though. So much has changed over the past 5 years. That was so much time we missed in each others lives. Things change, people change, but maybe in our case that is a good thing.

I told my mom where I was going and then got in my car to drive over to Nialls. I still know the exact route I took almost everyday when I was younger.

I pulled up in front of the same familiar house and walked up towards the door. I knocked and when the door opened I was met by Niall's mom with the happiest look on her face.

"Dacey it's been so long since I've seen you!" She said excited which made me wonder if Niall ever told her why I had stopped coming around. "Your so grown up now! And you look beautiful!" She complimented me just like old times. I hugged her then walked in the door. She was always like my second mom.

"Thank you" I replied as I felt my cheeks blush. "It has been a long time" I said as she hugged me again.

"Why I haven't I seen you around?" The question I was waiting for which also confirmed Niall didn't tell her.

"I moved at the beginning of middle school and just moved back" I said awkwardly.

"What? Niall never told me" she said right as Niall entered the room. "Niall why didn't you tell me Dacey moved?" She aske shocked.

"Uhm" Niall stuttered trying to think of an answer "it never really came up" he said in more of a question than a statement. She gave Niall a confused look obviously not believing him but not bothering to try and find out.

"We'll it's just good your back" she said turning back to me "I'll leave and let you work in your project now" she said giving one more smile then walking out of their living room.

"So you didn't tell her?" I questioned Niall while walking over and sitting on the couch. I began taking out everything we needed still waiting for Niall to answer even though I knew.

"No I didn't" he whispered coming and sitting beside me with out making eye contact. I just nodded. "I didn't know what to tell her" he continued with an explanation.

We sat in silence for a few minutes just reading over the packet with the instructions for our project.

"So we just have to find examples for all of these?" Niall said referring to the list on the paper he was holding.

"Yeah that's it" I replied pulling out my laptop to search for examples.

"We'll that should be easy enough" he said setting the paper down to look over my shoulder at the laptop.

Three hours later and we still weren't done. We have been working the whole time going through the list but havering trouble finding any of them and there's 50.

"I think I was wrong about this being easy" Niall blurted out randomly. I looked over at him and how defeated he looked and couldn't help but to start laughing. Niall looked at me confused when I just sat there laughing.

"Your definitely right about that" I said still not being able to contain my laughter. After me not being able to stop laughing Niall started laughing too. Finally after catching our breath Niall reached over and took my computer.

"Here let me try, you've been looking the whole time" he said already typing something in. I let him and looked at the words we have checked off. We had only found 11 so far.

"I think this is going to take more than one day" I said looking up from the paper. Niall looked over the computer at me nodding in agreement.

"We can work on it again tomorrow" he said. "Here I found one, after this I say we call it quits for today." He said looking at the time on the computer that was already past 10:00 pm. I agreed and we wrote the last word down for the night and then put everything away.

I got up and walked to the door followed by Niall.

"See you tomorrow Dace" he said sweetly using my nick name and this time I didn't object.

"See you tomorrow" I replied and then walked outside to my car.
