Chapter 19

Dacey's POV

I pick Dakota up like every morning and we head to school.

"So homecoming is in a week" she says wiggling her eyebrows up and down. Not saying anything else.

"And?" I question laughing at her.

"Has anyone asked you?" she says like that was the obvious question the whole time.

"No" I say shaking my head. Why would anyone ask me anyway. I'm not expecting to get asked.

"Really?" she says seeming confused. Like someone should of by now. "that's weird" she whispers to herself.

"Why is that weird?" I ask her curiously.

"I just though someone was going to" she says obviously trying to cover something up.

"Dakota.. Do you know something I don't?" I ask her hoping she will tell me.

"Uhm..so last night was fun right?" She says changing the subject. Looking out the window at the passing scenery.

"Dakota." I say sternly. "tell me please" I beg.

"I can't! I promised him I wouldn't tell you" she explains to me.

"Just a hint" I beg even more. She can't just leave me hanging like that. Who would even want to ask me?

"Nope" she says making sure to really pronounce the 'p'. "You'll find out eventually"

I just sigh in response. Giving up because I know she is stubborn and is not going to tell me. Now matter how much I beg and try to convince her. It won't work. So instead I am just left to think about who will ask me to homecoming.

What if it's Niall? Would I say yes to him or no. Would it be as friends or not? But then what if it's not Niall. Do I even want it to be Niall. That would probably just make things even more weird than they already are.

Pulling in to the school parking lot I decide to give up on trying to guess who it is. Ill just have to wait and see.

Harry's POV

I'm sitting at a table in the cafeteria with the rest of the lads. Waiting on the bell to ring for first period.

"So who are you asking to homecoming Niall?" Louis asks him as he jumps up to sit on top of the table staring directly at Niall.

"I don't think I'm asking anybody" he says with a shrug of the shoulders.

"Really?" Louis questions as if he thought he would hear a different answer. "I thought for sure you would ask Dacey!" he says raising his eyebrows smirking wickedly.

My whole body tenses from the words Louis has just said and I nervously await Niall's answer.

"No way" he says practically laughing. Well I was hoping he would say no but not like that.

"Really?" Liam joins in clearly shocked. "because I think she would say yes"

"I doubt it. She will still hardly talk to me without being.. i dont know just weird like she'd rather be any where else" he explains to us.

"Have you ever thought that maybe it's because she likes you?" Louis states as if its so obvious.

"I don't think so" Niall says laughing again. The bell rings and the guys all head to class. Me and Niall being the last ones at the table.

"Niall.. I was serious when I said don't hurt her again" I tell him in a shaky voice. He just nods giving me a bit of a confused look which is expected. Then he walks away leaving me alone.

I know I pushed for them to be friends again. That was because I wanted Dacey to be okay and happy. I knew it still hurt her what happened between her and Niall, and I can't stand the thought of him hurting her again. What I hadn't planned on though is her liking him as more than a friend. I guess I should of though because she did in middle school. I suppose I just assumed those feeling left when she did. With her being back I thought maybe I would actually have a chance with her.

I've always liked her. She is one of the sweetest, nicest, most beautiful girls I've ever laid eyes on. I had even talked to Dakota about asking her to homecoming while we were at the bowling ally. She thought it was a good idea. Though after hearing what the guys just said. I'm not sure if its a good idea. Maybe they are wrong though. Maybe she doesn't like Niall and I have a chance. The only way to know of she would go with me is to ask. So that's what I'll have to do.

As if right on que I receive a text from Dakota.

"Are you still asking Dace to homecoming?" it reads.

"Yes" I reply with a short answer.

"When?"

"Today."
