[Autumn]

The agents surrounded us, their gun raised at our chests.

"Don't move." One of the agents said. His voice was cold, and chilled me to the bone. There was something about the way Specials talked that made you listen, even if you didn't want to.

Ariana walked up to us, a devilish grin on her face.

"We trusted you...as our friend." I fumed. How could she do this to us? All of our escapes, all the times I had felt invincible and perfect...the Aggregate had been watching the whole time.

She rolled her eyes. "Like I'd ever be friends with Blenders like you!" She spat out "Blender" like it was a dirty word. "Specials need to put you Blenders in your place...starting now."Ariana raised her gun, her eyes completely emotionless.

Vyvienne smirked, nodding in approval.

Then, before Ariana could pull the trigger, I saw one of the agents fall to the ground with a loud thud. There was a red dart in his shoulder.

Ariana and Vvyienne turned around, just as two more of the agents fell.

"What the-" Ariana's gun was shot out of her hand by another flying red dart.

A shadow leaped from the roof of the large building and landed almost noiselessly behind Ariana.

I stared, astonished, at Layla, whose jaw was also hanging. We had seen plenty of awesome street fighters in many different Communities, but none of them could singlehandedly take down an entire squad of highly trained Aggregate agents with just a dart gun.

The shadow swept Ariana off her feet and she fell to the ground.

She quickly got up and punched the shadow, which I could now see was a girl wearing a large hoodie that covered most of her features.

The girl fell, holding her cheek, while Ariana grinned.

The girl sprung up with astonishing agility as Vyvienne ran back towards the van.

CowardI thought.

The girl punched Ariana back and kicked her in the stomach.

Ariana bent over and the girl tripped her again. Ariana fell again, this time on her face.

I instinctively winced, that must have been painful.

The girl looked at us as Ariana got back up, sending us all daggers with her eyes. But this time, she didn't try to fight the girl. She ran back towards the van and got in.

"The Supreme Leader will find out about this!" She yelled viciously before slamming the door shut and driving away.

The girl walked towards us, blood dripping from her mouth.

"Who are you?" Layla asked.

"None of your business," she said tersely. "Now come on, before they send more agents! I was barely able to take those ones!"

I struggled to keep up with the girl as she ran through alleys, tunnels, and weird, curvy roads I never even knew existed. She knew Community Orange better than I did, and she definitely wasn't from around here!

Finally, we stopped in the middle of a small grove of trees. I gasped for breath and I saw Layla hold her hand near her chest. We must have been running continuously for at least a couple of miles!

Man, that girl is fast, I thought.

I looked around. It seemed like we were in the middle of a forest, or something. That was strange, I didn't think there was a forest anywhere near Community Orange...

The girl pulled her hoodie off, revealing her cropped black hair.

She turned to look at us, narrowing her ocean blue eyes.

"Well...don't you have something to say?" She put her hands on her hips.

I looked at Layla, confused.

"Huh??" I asked.

The girl scowled.

"I just saved your lives! That snobby Hutchinson woman and her uptight little assistant were going to set you guys straight without my help. Don't I at least get a thank you?"

I looked over at Layla, who nodded in agreement.

"She has a point." Layla shrugged.

"Okay, thanks for saving us." I smiled.

The girl smiled for a second, before reassuming her cold expression.

"That's better...I never really liked you Blenders." The girl said with disgust.

"Excuse me??? Are you a Special?" I asked. "Because you're seriously sounding like one right now."

The girl winced in invisible pain.

"Eww! Of course not..I'm a Fray." The girl slipped her hoodie back on. "Oh, and my name is Jayden, but my friends call me Jay."

A Fray? There were plenty of rumors going around that the Frays were no longer content with their home Outside, and were illegally entering the Communities more, but I had never actually seen one before. I had only heard stories, and they all said one thing. The world Outside was dangerous, and the Frays had adapted to it. They were pretty dangerous too.

"Can we...call you Jay?" I asked, trying not to show my sudden fear.

"What makes you think you're my friend?" She scowled. "See, this is the problem with Blenders. You guys are so trusting and obedient. You're the Specials' perfect little pets."

"If you have this many problems with Blenders, why'd you save us?" I snapped in annoyance.

"You guys are thieves, and you mostly steal from Specials. Don't ask how I know this, we Frays have our ways of getting around," she shrugged. "And it sounds like we have a mutual hatred of Specials. It's not often you find a Blender who doesn't worship them."

"Okay, then, that's fair enough. I'm Autumn,"

"And I'm Layla."

"Well, nice to meet you, Autumn and Layla." Jayden smirked. Her condescending nature towards Blenders was really starting to get on my nerves.

"And welcome to Fray Sector, the secret bridge between the Communities and Outside."
