Luke was on his way home from work, continuing the same path he took everyday. The day was grey, as was it everyday, and everyone had the same blank, cold stares. It was a contrast to the sun that was shining over the Loving forest as if the sky knew who the happy people were. It was still warm but then there was no sun on the Knowing side. Luke didn't live that far from his house so he walked everyday, even if it was raining or snowing. He didn't, well couldn't, mind. He pushed past a few people and continued his way down the block, unsure of why there was so many people on the streets today.
Luke passed the main town center and made his way down a flight of stairs, when he heard a voice call after him. He was taken by surprise as he saw a Loving running towards him. It wasn't any Loving though, it was Ashton Irwin, the one who had annoyed him a few days prior. Well, not really annoy him. Ashton just left him forgetful and flustered ad he didn't like it. He wasn't supposed to be only thinking of one thing all the time and especially not if that person was a Loving. Luke internally groaned as he stopped walking so Ashton could stand next to him.
Ashton's hair was all over the place from trying to catch up to Luke and instead of the baggy shirt Luke last saw him in, he was wearing a tight olive green t-shirt. Luke thought he looked good, even though he shouldn't be thinking it. Ashton was holding a sketchbook in his hand and he had a bag slung over his shoulder, just like Luke, except his was made out of rough cotton fabric while Luke's was sleek leather that seemed to reflect light, even without sunlight.
"Thanks for stopping Luke, I was scared you wouldn't," Ashton said, panting and he was trying hard to catch his breath to talk to Luke.
"Of course I would stop. Why wouldn't I? You were yelling at me," Luke said, with a dumbfounded, confused look on his face.
Why wouldn't he have stopped? For all he knows, Ashton could be needing his help and the Knowing were known for helping since they couldn't exactly show emotion by saying no.
"Oh yeah, I forgot. I was wondering if you could help me with something," Ashton said, pointing towards his notebook.
"With what?" Luke asked, his eyebrows furrowing in confusion, he pulled Ashton's arm towards and alley that he knew would lead them to his temporary apartment, he was going to be moving out in two years to live with his designated spouse. Luke didn't want to be seen talking to a Loving so he was willing to let Ashton come to his apartment so they'd be hidden.
"Where are we going?" Ashton asked, he started walking faster as Luke dragged him down the empty alley and he had no idea where they were going. Luke was cute though so he wasn't exactly concerned to where they were going.
"My apartment," Luke said, in a short, clipped voice, as they left the alley and Ashton saw they were in front of a giant building that seemed to be made completely out of glass. Luke had never seen something so clear, and clean, and ugly.
The building had no character and everything looked the same, nothing varied as he looked room to room. It was all grey.
Luke motioned for Ashton to follow him, as he opened the door into the building and was greeted by the landlord.
"Who's that? Why are you bringing in a Loving?" Jim, the landlord asked.
"This is Ashton, we're working on a business thing together. Don't worry about it," Luke said bluntly, the landlord gave a curt nod, and the two boys were on their way. Luke dragged Ashton the elevator, the doors closed behind them and Luke pressed the button for the 50th floor, the penthouse.
Luke didn't say anything as the two boys made their way into his apartment and they were sitting on Luke's couch.
"What is it that you disrupted my evening plans for?" Luke asked, his voice short and cold, making Ashton unintentionally shiver and hide his nervousness towards the blonde boy. He already knew Luke would say no to what he was going to ask but he knew it was worth the try.
