Ava Paige's POV

The click of my nude stilettos reverberates through the halls of WICKED's headquarters. My tight white uniform moves with every step I take. I feel hot and powerful while walking through the halls. I'm chancellor Ava Paige, of course. I'm saving the world by finding a cure. That's what we're suppose to do no matter the sacrifices of subjects. I run the saying, "WICKED is good," through my head over and over again. This is what I do before a variable is tested, so I don't think too much of what's going on.

I swipe my key card over the lock making it emit a sound of a granted entrance. As soon as I walk through the room, the scientists in the room bring their complete attention to me. I smile a genuine one which seems to lessen the tension. Jansen appears out of the corner of the room with a hatred glare. He's always been jealous of my higher position, but he's merely a pawn in my company considering that he's not immune. He's forced to be apart of WICKED like many others are in order to be safe from the outside world.

Without wasting another second, my face turns serious and I begin, "It is the day of another variable, and I am hoping that Subject A6 is in check as well as Subject A14." The women in charge of Subject A14 nods curtly which I return.

I give Thomas a reassuring smile when he gives a grim look and answers, "Yes, Subject A6 is currently in the forest with Subject A7. Last night they confessed their affection towards one another. The bond between them is stronger, and Subject A6's friendship with Subject 14 is well for this..."

He falters but I nod in understanding. "Thomas, I know you were friends with Subject A6, but this is for the good of the cure. We aren't close enough to finding one, yet. We need more blueprints, and this sacrifice won't be missed." Thomas nods sadly, but I quickly ignore his pain and turn to Doctor Jaeger. "Doctor Jaeger, are all of the subjects that are involved ready to be released?"

"Yes, Chancellor Paige. The four subjects have been picked specifically for this purpose. Only one of them might be too strong for this, but with the intelligence of Subject A6, everything should go according to plan. Subject A7's brain is still resting, so we'll wake him up if needed."

"We have planned this for a very long time. Ever since Subject A6's arrival, we didn't want her to be the odd one of the group, until now. They trust her, and some of them care for her. Let the attack begin, but remember, WICKED is good." I walk proudly back to my office without a thought of glancing back.

Barely anyone meets my eyes when walking through the the white hallways. I briskly open the doors of my suite with a pass code that I invented. If your smart enough then you'll understand that the password is CURE but in Spanish. Your thinking, "why Spanish?" Well, my background consists of my boss who spoke mainly Spanish, so I learned a lot from him. He was my teacher for everything, but like most human beings, he was mortal to the Flare.

I safely secure some files, and I open a wide closet filled with different colored shoes that are all in order of the rainbow. I sigh as the OCD side of me appreciates my work. I put my nudes heels away and grab a pair of dark red heels that show off my diva side. I like to wear each pair of different color stilettos by my work event. Nude is for regular paperwork, and red is for special occasions. It's only to show my grief in a way of color instead of emotions.

This is blood red. It'll match perfectly.

Helen's POV

I wake up to stirring and a cold breeze that touches my lower back. I try to wiggle and put the blanket a little more down to cover my skin, but I am worried that he'll wake up. I see that it's almost daytime, but it's just dark enough that I can barely see Minho's outline of his face because of the disappearance of the watchful eyes of the stars. The memories of last night make my tired mood turn bright. Wait, we didn't even get to eat the chocolate! I look at the crunchy leaves splayed out on the dirt floor and see the chunks resting on a small patch of grass. I slowly reach for the chunks, and I grab the milk chocolate bar first. I look at Minho's sleeping form and shrug. His loss he isn't up. Almost second guessing myself, I brush off some of the dirt so I can still eat it.
