Ben's P.O.V.
"Don't worry Dad, we will see eachother again." I said trying my best to comfort my father. He was crying now so I hugged him tighter. I loved him and wanted to make things better for him, my brothers, and everyone. That's why I have to leave. If this skitter rebellion is real.. it may be one of our biggest shots at winning this war. This battle for our home. I also can't help but feel that if this turns out to be true, I might actually be useful for once. Not just the math geek, or Razorback. I'll be needed. I'll be... a hero.
My father and I released from eachother's arms. I looked into his eyes that were now pink from his tears. I saw in them such fear, love, and pride. Ever since I was deharnessed I haven't quite been able to express much emotion. As much as I felt I should be tearing up right now. I couldn't. That's one of the reasons why I believe people when they call me a freak. Sometimes I just think that I'm an empty shell, I have no soul, no heart. Gosh. Ben, you get way to deep in thought sometimes.
"Go." He said clearly struggling to put a weak smile on his face. I put my hand on his shoulder and nodded my head. I guess it was my way of saying "I love you Dad" he understood that and returned the gesture. I picked up my backpack and threw it over my shoulder. Then did the same with my gun. I started to walk away but as I was almost out of my father's view I turned my head over my shoulder and saw him still there watching. I waved goodbye for the final time and so did he. Then I continued on, deep into the forest. The last thing I heard was my Dad shout "Alright! Lets move out!" Then that was it.
