Chapter 8

Matts POV

We are all playing truth or dare and I am just waiting to be dated. All the sudden I hear the door open. When I look up I see a blonde boy walking in  and then behind him comes in a boy that wait-- Jared? No I can't be. He's gone. He moved to Australia. He can't be here. No. And anyway wasn't these guys names Jack and Jack? I guess he is a Jack but they look so much alike.

I here a voice near me squeak out, "Jared??" And then see Alex sprint out of the room. I quickly jump up and chase after her. I follow her as she runs up the emergency staircase all the way to the roof floor. Huh I didn't even know that was there. She stands at the end of the roof and looks off into the distance. I can hear her crying.

I walk up to her and pull her into a hug. She crys into my shoulder. "hey, hey now, it's ok. You know it's not him right. That's Jack. Jared is gone. It's ok. Your ok. He is not going to hurt you. Your ok." I talk in a quiet voice to her. "But he looks just like him." She crys out. "I know. I know. I am shocked to but we are ok. He can't hurt you. You are fine ok. You are not going to be hurt by him. He is probably really really nice." She slowly stops crying.

She sniffles and looks at me. "Thank you. I needed that." she says. I just smile. We walk back towards the door and walk down the stairs. I start to walk back to our room and here the boys across the hall. I start to walk over to that room because that's where  all the guys are in but Alex stops me.

"I don't really want to go back on there. I will meet those 2 tomorrow. Can you explain to them what happened as I really don't want to." She says. "Sure." I walk to the room with her and unlock it with the keycard. She turns around and hugs me. "When you come in I will probably be asleep but you know I am a pretty heavy sleeper so if you want to do stuff I will probs sleep through it."

With that she walks into the rooms nd the door closes. I walk across the hall to what I assume is cam and nash's room and knock. I here the talking quiet down and shuffling feet to get the door. I see Taylor open the door and all 7 other guys sitting on the floor. I walk in and immediately apologize to everyone.

"Hey guys I am sorry that happened. We didn't mean to cause drama or anything we just had a little bit of a flashback." I say. "It's fine." They all chorus in response. "But what happened?" Cam asks. I sigh and say "we used to have a friend. In fact a best friend named Jared who looked just like Jack." I point to him and continue. "So what happened was

"--so then he he joined the bullies and started to bully us. I got the lesser half, I was more physically bullied but Alex was emotionally bullied. She had a crush on Jared and he used it against her in the meanest ways he pretended to like her and then crushed her heart, spread rumors, publicly embarrassed her multiple times by either having lunch dumped on her or just plain up yelling out that she liked him to the whole school at lunch. The thing about the group of boys that he joined is that they were the popular boys so everyone respected them and followed them and we became scum. At the end of sophomore year tho he moved to Australia and only left behind a note for us. We had hoped it was like some sort of apology but it was him ranting at us through a piece of paper about how horrible of friends we were. We haven't heard from him since but we are like super careful about friends. Like at school we literally have 3 other friends and we still have trouble trusting them."

I finish the story and realize the entire time I was looking down and everyone was dead silent. I look up and see that they are all looking at me. "I'm sorry man." Carter says. Then they all started saying "sorry" and "you didn't deserve that". I just smile and say "it's fine" and "don't worry about it."

Then Aaron asks a question. "Sorry if I am intruding but you said they physically bullied you. What do you mean?" I look down not really wanting to talk about it. "Um I would get cornered and then punched or kicked or I would have my locker like emptied out on the floor. I would be shoved around and just attacked no matter where I was in school." I think back to him. "After he left it was like a switch all the sudden we were popular but just weeks before everyone had hated us. So yeah we have trouble getting super close to people."

They all bring me into a group hug. I Really think I can trust these people. We all say goodbye for the night before heading back to our own rooms. When I get in I see Alex passed out on the bed. I quickly get changed and hop in bed next to her. I think this will be the best summer of our lives.
