From Queen Bee to Alpha's Mate (Book 2)

Chapter 20

"Kenzie gets all the women and children inside the pack house and into the safe room," Orlando linked me in a rush as he transformed into his rusty brown wolf and begins charging towards the rogues.

Before I could argue he links me again. 'Now kenzie,' he orders me in his Alpha tone.

I do as I'm told and along with Haley, Maggie, Amy, Aunt Daisy, Aunt Izzy, and even mom, I helped get all the women and children safely into the pack house and led them towards the safe room. I stopped Haley from going in. She looked at me puzzled before she realized real quick. Our babies!

We rush up the stairs to their rooms and grab them quickly and safely. I pull a sleeping Ethan to my chest as I go to wake Chase, Emily, Allie, and Raven. I had Raven and Allie help me with Chase and Emily as we hurry downstairs quietly. I was the last one down making sure that Haley had Teegan and Keegan with her safely.

Once I made sure all the women and children were safely in I closed and locked the door and head over to where I left Ethan with Haley. I sit beside her and she hands me a still sleeping Ethan. I smile down at my world. He is so small and innocent. I can't believe in the time of fourteen to sixteen years he will become Alpha to this pack, taking over for Orlando. He has all this wait on his shoulders and he's just a little boy.

I'm brought out of my thoughts when I hear fighting the floor above us. That means that they have gotten in the pack house and are running a muck on the first level. I take a breath of relief knowing that even if they were to come down to the cellar they would only find empty cells. The door to the safe room is very well hidden and once someone is in there the only way to get in is to get them to open it from their side.

I wanted so badly to be out there fighting alongside Orlando but I knew he wouldn't allow it. He would have ordered Damon or someone to bring me back here to where I couldn't be hurt.

2 Hours Later

It's been two hours and we still haven't left the safe room. I tried linking Orlando or Damon with no luck. Ethan, Teegan, and Keegan woke up an hour ago crying for their daddies. Haley and I had to calm them down the best we could before they woke up the other children who were able to fall asleep in their mother's' arms.

I can't take it anymore! I have to go help him. I hand Ethan over to Maggie. "Keep him safe," I tell her in a hurry as I get up and head toward the door.

"Where in the world are you going," Haley ask me scared.

"I can't sit here and wait not knowing if they are okay or not," I say in a voice a little higher than I thought as tears start betraying me.

"Kenzie stay here. Ethan can't lose both of you. He needs his Mom," Haley says softly as she walks to me and pulls me in a tight hug.

After a few minutes I am able to calm down. Haley is right. I can't leave Ethan without a parent.

'Kenzie?Kenzie it's Damon. They're gone but I need you and Haley to come here quickly' Damon links me calmly.

'Why what's wrong?! Who's hurt?! Is it Orlando?!' I link him scared.

I look at Haley with tears in my eyes as she explains to everyone it's safe to leave the room.She ask Maggie and Raven to take the babies and Allie with them until we come back for them. They quickly agree seeing my expression.

With that Haley and I rush out the safe room, up stairs to the first floor, and out into the clearing where all the fighting took place. I search wildly for Damon as I run across the clearing. Once I spot him I rush over to him with Haley hot on my tale.

I stop once I see who he's leaning over. NOOOO!! It can't be. Why him? I drop to my knees beside his body and tears began streaming out of my eyes.I don't even try to stop them as I feel my heart breaking.

I pay no attention to the person walking closer behind me, already knowing who it is. I say on my knees bawling my eyes out for the man I love.

"Kenzie," Orlando says in a saddened voice as he drops down behind me and pulls me to him, trying to soothe me.

"He's gone," I cry out as Orlando pulls me closer to him, turning me around to face him. "He's gone ," I sob.

Orlando continues to hold me close and I sob into his chest as the pain of losing someone in my life that could never be replaced.

Laying in front of us was the man that loved me unconditionally. No matter if I was his biologically or not. He consider me his. His baby girl. His little princess. No matter how bad I was I could never do wrong in his eyes. I was and always will be his little girl. Yes he also had Maggie and Allie but I was always his favorite.

I continue to sob into Orlando's chest as pack members pick the remaining lifeless body of my father.
