"Lovely necklace."

Napaigtad si Alice nang marinig ang nanunuyang boses ng pinsang si Amanda. Hindi niya namalayang nasa tabi na pala niya ito.

Nilingon niya ito. And true to her words, her cousin was smiling at her like the Cheshire Cat.

"Stop it, Mandy," saway niya rito habang nakakunot-noo.

"What?" painosenteng balik-tanong nito. "It's just that, that is one of the most beautiful necklaces I've seen in my whole life."

Alice scanned the hall, her hand immediately moving to touch the pendant resting in between her collarbones.

Tila baha na bumalik sa kaniya ang mga pangyayari sa jewelry shop ni Lacey.

She could still feel Trent's warm fingers on the sensitive skin of her bare neck.

A hot feeling rushed inside her. Lumalim ang kaniyang paghinga at bumilis ang tibok ng kaniyang puso.

What was happening to her?

"Do you want to tell me something, couz?"

Tinitigan ni Alice ang kaniyang pinsan ng tahimik. Tinaasan siya nito ng isang kilay, senyales na inaasar pa rin siya nito.

Umiling siya. "Tigilan mo ako, Mandy. I'm not in the mood."

"Ano'ng 'not in the mood'? Ano'ng nangyari sa'yo at ganyan ang hitsura mo?"

"Wala 'to."

"I don't believe you. You started acting weird since you went to Lacey's with Trent. And that was, like, two days ago already."

Trent's fingers on her neck, soothing... caressing...

Nag-init ang kaniyang mukha.

"Are you blushing?" bulalas ng makulit niyang pinsan.

She pressed her cold palms to her heated cheeks. Pakiramdam niya ay umakyat lahat ng dugo sa kaniyang mukha.

"Ohmygod. You really need to spill it, Alice. C'mon!"

"I have nothing to say," pagmamatigas niya.

Hindi sumagot si Amanda ngunit nagdududa pa rin ang tingin nito sa kaniya. Hinayaan na lamang niya ito. Siguradong siya ang sasakit ang ulo kapag in-entertain niya ito.

She was saved when one of the servants entered the hall and approached Amanda.

"Signorina, ipinapatawag po kayo ni Signora De Santis. Dinner is served at the main dining room."

Nakangiting tumango si Amanda rito. "Sì. Grazie, Mariya. Susunod na kami."

Maria bowed slightly and headed out of the room with silent steps.

"Come on, Alice. It's time to meet the parents," biro nito habang akay-akay siya sa kaniyang braso.

Bumundol ang kaba sa kaniyang dibdib. "W-what?"

Amanda turned to her and flashed a wide smile. "It's time for you to meet the whole De Santis clan."

De Santis... clan...?
